Saints lucked into a great draft by other teams picking their pick

I love this draft, but thank god other teams took our pick numerous times.

While Foster and Riley could've been good players for us, I wasn't sold Foster could handle life in Nola with out 5 Bama staff guys holding his hand. And I'd have been in full melt if we took Maholmes over Lattimore, Barnett, Allen etc.

It doesn't matter if it were luck or divine intervention. We successfully made the best out of the hand we were dealt. That's a credit to the scouting department and Payton's willingness to actually "build" the team.

I wonder if Duke knew that the Saints were going to draft him? If he wanted to come here he could have conceivably told Atlanta to go frick themselves and tried to turn them off to taking him.

Totally. It would be so cool if all the college players at a given school made their career choices based on the majority of the local fans pro sports loyalties.

Isn't it cool how each NFL season is just a continuation of the previous season, and the teams that made it to the Super Bowl last year always make it again the next?

I thought it a draft that exemplified a team sticking by their board. As Payton said, they had a top half 1st Rd grade on Ramcheck. The next defender they has was down into the 2nd Rd. That's the way ya do it IMO.
