Roby is not a good kickoff returner. He is in the bottom half of the league in kickoff return statistics. He is an average returner at best.

When Ivory is healthy, Pierre is the best return option. Pierre doesn't have the break away speed to house it but he puts you in the best field position.

Am I the only one that holds his breath when Reggies under the ball. He seems to drop more than he catches, if he makes the catch I consider it a bonus

Thats on punts, which are more likely to result in fumbles because of the trajectory of the ball and the way in spins/spirals

Reggie would be good at kick returns IMO, but the Saints don't want him to have the tag as a 12 mil dollar kick returner
But it's cool for him to be a $12MM punt returner? The more he can do the more he justifies his price tag, and I would definitely like to see him return kicks.

$12MM is a lot of money for one player. It's an astronomical amount for a return player. But, given the attention he requires on the field plus his return ability, he is at least worth half.

Aw, shite...

Not better than Roby. As long as he runs forward and not back he's fine. Everytime I think he's figured this out, he turns a 7 yard screen in to a 3 yard screen.

Roby has got to be the worst kick returner in the entire NFL. The can't see through a wall excuse is crap. I have not seen him make a single cut all year. PT was a definate upgrade last week and hope he takes over for him for the rest of the year. Roby receives the kickoff and runs as fast as he can in a straight line, regardless if defenders are in his way. We need to upgrade the position at some point.

amen.

he is great on kick coverage though, but absolutely horrible as a kick returner.

More like...

Reggie takes it at the 2, runs left up the field, dives over the Unicorn at the 11, does a sideways backflip, wait, what the hell is a sideways backflip? AND HES GONE, ONLY 1 MAN TO BEAT, AND HES HIT BY A VAN. WHERE DID THAT VAN COME FROM.

A kick return is pretty much like a really long screen pass. I like pierre back there more than anyone.

Found this transcript on wikileaks

Sean Payton:

"hey Gregg, um can I talk to about th..."

Gregg McMahon: No, I've got a book to write."

SP: It's about Roby, he kinda sucks at returns."

GM: "No shite?"

SP " Well do we have anyone better?"

GM " We sure do. Quite a few guys are better, why?"

SP " Can you put them in?"

GM " Why the hell would I waste my time trying to put the best guys in there. Your the gum chewing guru, why don't you put someone better in?" Now buzz off I got 2 more chapters to finish."

End of transcript

I think Bush would be a beast at kicker returner. Not only would he have a chance for a return but he would have have enough time to get his blocks set up.

1. Madden deems him best suited to do it, so it must be true, right?

2. He'd have a career ending injury pretty quickly.

These are my favorite kinds of posts, the type that have zero relevance to the thread topic, where the poster feels it is absolutely imperative to get this point in.

I think Reggie would be good on kickoff returns, but when Roby is healthy it would be tough to take him out of that role.
