I'm sure the thought of playing Trevor Siemian had him scared shitless
Siemian would've gotten murdered... esp. if Armstead was still out (which we'll never know)
I was upset following the 49er win... but once news came out that Taysom needed surgery for the injury he suffered against the Falcons... that was the coping mechanism I needed to deal with the Saints season ending that way... we saw starting QB Siemian and it was not pretty... it would've been just another Wild Card blow out
maybe the defense keeps us in it for a while... esp. if Lattimore & CJGJ could keep OBJ & Kupp under wraps and the DL could get pressure on Stafford... but ultimately we likely would've folded under a 2 or 3 to 1 TOP differential

The playoffs are about matchups. Some teams are designed to beat you.
The Saints were constructed to beat Tom Brady. Running QB's give the Saints fits.
The Rams did want to win their division and when Seattle beat Arizona that goal was achieved.
The decision of matchups played a part in the Rams suddenly quitting the game against the 49ers.
What good is a two seed, if a wronged team in the Saints shows up at your door.
The Saints would have given the Rams a Superbowl defensive performance.
With all the eyes on the game, it would have beeen the most watched playoff game of the weekend.
The NFL would have been forced to keep officiating above board.
The game against the Saints was not going to be a two seed walkover victory for the Rams. It was going to be an all out war of attrition.
The Saints would have played the game with we don't give a frick mentality. The Rams were the meat and the Saints have been salivating since the no call.
frick all that and seedings, the Rams threw the 49ers game to straight up avoid the Saints.

shite, look at the tv promos running last weekend for wildcard games…they all flashed Rams, 9ers, Bucs, Eagles, Cowboys, and Cards.
Wait, are you surprised they only showed the teams in the playoffs for a playoffs promo? Am I missing something here?

Let's be honest. With Siemian as the starter the score for last night's game would have been the same if not worse.
Saints are fortunate to end the season on a high note with a fire for next year than going to the playoffs and getting absolutely smacked down like the Eagles, Pats, Cards, and Steelers.

Were they constructed to beat Daniel Jones? Because he had the game of his life against us.

Nah

We would have gotten smashed. Ruiz blocking Donald. Say no more.

For about a quarter and half. Going three and out constantly would have ground them down.

Saints fans have been salivating. The players...I doubt it.

Can you elaborate on the truth or are you taking your usual board dump.
The Rams made a tactical decision with the division won. The Cardinals gave them the division by getting beat by the Seahawks.
No need to needless risk any players with additional effort against the 49ers.
The strategy was excellent. The Cardinals looked liked the perfect opponent for next week's playoff game.
The Cardinals were ready to get knocked out. The Saints were looking to be the spoiler.

there's still a HUGE logic hole here
why would the Rams give up a guaranteed shot of playing 2 home playoff games for 1 in order to get to the Super Bowl?
no team will surrender at least 1 home playoff game (and possibly a 2nd) just to avoid someone "lower" than them
esp since I'm sure they feel they could beat a Saints team that was already on QB2 (even before the Taysom news came out... putting the Saints on QB3 at best for the playoff game), didn't have the all-pro WR, only had 1 real threat on offense (Kamara), and a offensive line that was patchwork at best
your "they didn't want to play the Saints" thought process just doesn't hold water

You have sang this tune in multiple threads on at least two boards.
You have been insistent in defending the sudden tank the Rams pulled in the game.
I can pull everyone of your canned prepared remarks.
You have an agenda. It is difficult to see you as a real Saints fan.
I have danced with you in the past over officiating.
You even have suggested the Saints would have been blown out by the Rams anyway.
You are paid to be here.

Can you imagine tanking in the 2nd half and…
Scoring a go ahead touchdown…and
Leaving in Ramsey, Donald, Stafford and cupp… and
Not allowing the 49ers to score a TD in OT.

I don't know why you're so angry... but it just doesn't make sense... what team wants to willfully drop from the 2 seed to the 4 seed?
my Saints fandom doesn't revolve around believing every stupid conspiracy theory thrown out on the internet... anyone who knows me knows how big a fan I am... I was a season ticket holder for more than a decade until circumstance forced me to relinquish my tickets
and I wish Chicken was paying me to be on this site... I'll be 1 of the hamsters
ETA: I got to wear a real Super Bowl ring from a former player/team employee at the time and hold the Saints Lombardi Trophy thanks to the team coming to my workplace for a promotional tour right after the SB win... 1 of the best days of my life

That's because DeAndre Hopkins got injured. The Cards were 8-2 (losses to Packers & Rams) with Hopkins and 3-4 without him.
I was wondering what happened to the Cardinals
weren't they the final undefeated team in the NFL?

This is ridiculous. Shanahan has had mcvay’s number, why would he want them getting into the post season?
