Projecting Colston stats this year...

93 catches, 1379yds, 14.8ypc avg, 13 TDs

Can the man make one Pro Bowl before they abolish it? Sheesh. These numbers while starting the season obviously less than 100%.

Current NFL Wide Receivers his age or less lifetime receptions leaders-

Brandon Marshall (28) 535
Marques Colston (29) 484
Calvin Johnson (27) 404
Greg Jennings (29) 401
Dwayne Bowe (28) 390

He's going to make the Pro Bowl but won't play in it because we'll be preparing for the Super Bowl

Mr. Underappreciated! And to think, some fans wanted to let walk this past offseason.

Just imagine if he wasn't gimpy the first 3 games & was able to contribute more then. His numbers this season would be even more impressive. Plain & simple the Quiet Storm delivers.

Are they going to do away with the entire Pro Bowl or just do away with the game? Which I completely agree with. Absolutely pointless. I would rather see drill competitions.

just Goodell talking right now. I agree with his point that if there is no real "game" competition (59-41, 55-41 last 2 yrs) then it is a waste. I can't remember the last time I watched one myself.

There used to be a College All Star team vs the NFL champs exhibition that ended in 1976. I'd like to see something like that. Have the BCS champ play an NFL All Pro team. The BCSNC is the first week in January. The Super Bowl is now usually a month after, plenty of time to prepare. Have the game Super Bowl weekend on Saturday.

Just my Commissioner Idea of the Week

I'd love to see Colston stay involved with the organization even after he retires if he chooses to. He's the most selfless, humble player I can ever remember and he's been quietly having a stellar career.

serious question.. maybe nobody here knows, but i wonder if he's considered a leader of this team.. does he speak out when people do wrong? does he try to get people fired up?? he seems too quiet.. i've met him in person before (well actually no, i just saw him at a restaurant) and he didn't even really seeem like he was talking to the people he was with... not in a rude way, maybe he's just shy

I knew someone would take issue with that. And i agree with it. He has been great though. Been here forever. Never makes noise, hometown hero, bluegrass miracle, unitas record breaking catch, there for the brooks playoffs, here for the superbowl, he gives his heart and soul to the saints and is one if my top 5 favorite saints.

i love the fact that the saints have never had a 'diva' WR (well except maybe joe horn)..

Idk about leader of the team, but I definitely feel he's the leader of the receiving corp just in the way he conducts himself.

Colston is the best WR in Saints history. he and Fitz are the only players to put 5 1,000 seasons in the past 6 years. he would have 6 out of 6 if not getting hurt week 1 in 08. He is gonna make 6 out of 7 this year.

i love the fact that the saints have never had a 'diva' WR under Payton.

There was Donte "Hammy" Stallworth but he was gone before August was done in '06.

Trivia: What did the Saints receive in trade for Stalledworth?

Wait to fix the problem of having no competition in the pro bowl, you want to pit the best players in the National Football League and play them against a team with a majority of guys that wont even make it into an NFL training camp????? I must be confusing your words, theres no way you can be that dumb. Those beatdowns would be 20 times worse than any probowl

at least it's an idea, I'm putting it in the Pro Bowl thread

I think the BCSNC would have the advantage of playing as a team. The NFL PBers would have overwhelming skills but have a very limited playbook. Like the PB now they could say no blitzing by the NFLers for example.

The interest to me would be seeing top prospects matched against NFLers before the draft. Last year would have seen Mark Barron & Dre Kirkpatrick covering Megatron. Or see Cam Newton the year before doing his thing against NFL level players would have been cool.
