Jared Goff's right thumb is broken, @RapSheet and I have learned

More on Goff from @RapSheet and me: He will wait to see how the thumb is after the swelling goes down, but it is unlikely he'll play next Sunday vs. Arizona. Could well be a season-ending injury. Will need surgery to repair. He reset the thumb himself on the field. Tough guy.

The #Rams backup QB — and likely starter next week — is John Wolford. The former AAF passing TD leader with the Arizona Hotshots is a talent who has teammates intrigued.

Rams face the Cardinals next week in a game that could very well determine who the Saints play in the Wild Card Round

haven't done the math on a 3-way tie between the Rams, Cardinals, & Bears at 9-7 to see who gets the 6 & 7 seeds and who gets left out

If the bears win, the saints are likely the 1 seed

Dont the 49ers give the Seahawks trouble? Would be something if the Bears win but the Seahawks lose

I don’t know who the Rams back-up is, but are we 100% sure they aren’t better without Goff?

Win win situation. If Bears win #1 seed here we come. If they lose we get to face the sorry Rams.

Am I missing something? A bears win would put the packers tied with us at 12-4 (assuming we beat the panthers) and the packers hold the tie breaker over us since they beat us. I thought the only way to the 1 seed was for them to lose to both the titans and bears

a 3-way tie between the Saints, Packers, & Seahawks (GB L, NO & SEA W in week 17) goes to the Saints as the 1 seed due to conference record tiebreaker

Saints would be 10-2... Packers & Seahawks both 9-3

ETA: I believe in this scenario... the Packers actually fall down to the 3 seed

meaning if it all goes wrong for them... they go from home field advantage and the lone playoff bye to no bye and likely only 1 home game in the playoffs instead of 2

The Saints haven’t really dominated back up QB’s. They seem to have career games against the Saints. It may be better to face Goff.

Not to mention that backup QB hasn’t even attempted a pass in the NFL.

Saints win
Packers win
Cardinals win

Saints vs Rams Wild Card weekend

This seems like the most likely outcome of them all.

Saints have problems with backup qbs and with rookie qbs at times. RG3 first nfl game was against the Saints and he torched us. We already know what Hurts did a few games ago

Goff is meeting with the same doctor that treated Drew after his injury in L.A. last year

Also... not looking good for Murray playing this week either.

Rams/Cardinals both fighting for a playoff spot with back-up QBs

If the Saints don't get out of the first round, Sean needs to go. There is no excuse for you to lose to any of these potential matchups.
