PFF: Lattimore looks elite already

Marshon Lattimore, the New Orleans Saints’ first-round pick in this years draft, currently owns a 90.4 overall grade, making him one of just four cornerbacks to possess an elite grade (over 90.0). He’s now had three consecutive games where he’s graded north of 85.0.
Lattimore is one of 60 cornerbacks who’ve spent at least 150 snaps in coverage so far this season, among that group he ranks eighth with an average of just 0.63 yards surrendered per coverage snap (receiving yards given up divided by the number of snaps spent in coverage).
Against the Detroit Lions, this past weekend – a game where Matthew Stafford threw for 312 yards and three touchdowns – Lattimore saw eight targets into his coverage and he allowed just three of them to be caught for a total of 24 yards. He had an interception as well as another pass breakup and held Stafford to just a 6.3 passer rating on throws into his coverage.

wish Robinson would've looked that good when Saints had him

Special thanks to the Titans, Chargers, Panthers, Bengals, and Bills for passing on him.
Real special thanks to Kansas City for trading up to 10 and taking Mahomes away from Payton.

Umm but LSU fans assured me tredavious white was better and we should have drafted him

Still shocked about PRob

He flashed that kind of year in 2011 and 2012, but injuries and an inconsistent contract year did him in with us, and he didn't look that much better the first couple of years after he left.
Much like Jenkins (who also flashed a bunch but was inconsistent), it's hard to blame the Saints for letting them walk after giving them plenty of time to develop and not living up to their pick/being inconsistent.
But that was when Allen was gone, and I don't think the secondary coaches we had in his place were worth a damn as all the DBs seemed to be regressing.
If Allen can do one thing right it's coaching up the secondary. I think Glenn does a pretty damn good job of it too.

Seriously? Tre'Davious was a better value this last draft.
TRE'DAVIOUS WHITE Drafted #24

Except we don't pick at 24, which means the value was worse at 11 for white

Let’s draft more OSU players

And while White has played very well, his ceiling isn't anywhere close to Lattimore.
Lattimore is showing the talent and potential to be an elite corner, maybe the best down the road.
White got destroyed this past week, but AJ Green can do that from time to time:

Why do yall keep posting this to prove a point? I remember Julio setting NFL records against Patrick Peterson. AJ Green has destroyed a lot of people.

PRob had a lot of growing to do, it just so happened that he cut his teeth here and matured in PA.
One thing that always stood out about him (to me) was his athleticism to be in the area to make a play, regardless of how bad of a decision he made in coverage. Wish him the best, and I don't fault the Saints for moving on from him.

The eagles secondary coach deserves a raise whoever he is
But this is great to see, Saints finally starting to put together a not just a decent defense, but potentially Top 10 defense moving forward with the young talent they have.

I'm cautiously optimistic about lattimore. It's not a 1:1 comparison, but I remember thinking we had the future with Tracy Porter, him and Greer were going to be the anchors for a long time.
sigh

Lattimore has played much better than Patrick Peterson as a rookie. That's kinda the point.

Glad we picked Lattimore, but White is graded out at 89.7, and is their number 5 ranked cb. So not exactly a scrub, is a HIGH character natural leader, and hasn't had any injury problems in his past. Again, not knocking the pick, but Saints fans would still be celebrating White like crazy if we'd gotten him instead.

They both are playing well. Who knows if they will continue to play. All this debating is stupid.
