It was a dumb pick for the Chargers by whoever made it.

Honestly, I didn't even think about the Buckeye thing.
Hmmmm.
Hmmmm.

we evidently needed to replenish our buckeye stock

I'm trying to think of a few Buckeye defenders that have really been good in the league.
Doesn't matter, Shazier is a great athlete and has huge upside. Has a lot of pass rushing potential.

I'm not really a fan of his. Not sure how he fits in a 3-4 where ILBs are typically a bit beefier than 4-3 guys.

Dude, hybrid de/olb's is not unusual anymore. its all get close to line of scrimmage and rush the passer.

Carolina with the 28th pick,
chooses
Cyrus Kouandjio
His knee checked out with dr Andrews, and I think he is up there with the other Ts

Laurinatits is probably the best

Good thing we run almost no 3-4.

Morgan Moses woulda been a better pick

He's a better fit than anyone else because the Chargers grabbed a WR instead of an actual NT.
Walterfootball lists the top 5 needs of the Chargers as cornerbacks, outside linebacker (rush linebacker), Nose tackle, guard, and wide receiver (in that order). Makes sense that WR in a deep WR draft would be the pick.
As for drafting an Ohio State Buckeye, at least it wasn't a cornerback!

Good thing carolina doesn't need wideouts.

With the 29th pick in the draft, the New England Patriots select Louis Nix III, Huge Bitch, Notre Dame.
