the upside is phenomenal. Could potentially be the quality of Gates and Gonzalez in the Basketball turned TE molds.

But I know for sure the Saints know what the hell they are doing.
There is intelligence here after all
The Saints rarely do well with the draft. colston (Rd 7) and the punter from last year are about the only good picks they had. (Not counting Meecham since he didn't see the field for the first 1.5 yrs).
The Saints do well in free agency and that is why they won the Super Bowl. Not the draft.

those were shockey's stats at the combine when he came in

WWL just said he is 6'6" 260lbs 4.56 40 yard and 38 inch vertical leap. All so said that he has a mean streak in him, and only played one year of football.
intresting

I don't deny the Saints FO knows more than this board, but I am suprised they wouldn't want to add depth at our weaker positions on the team.
OT, TE, and CB are stronger positions than OLB, DT, and RB(IMO committee worked great last year) on this team IMO. If we had not lost Fugita I wouldn't be as suprised.

How can you forget Nicks, and Evans?
Posted on 4/23/10 at 9:15 pm to Ponchy Tiger
Hernandez is THE overrated, overhyped TE in the draft. Graham has a huge upside. Now, I'm disappointed we haven't been able to grab a DT or OLB. Hopefully the last day produces a couple for us.

Aren't all three of our draft picks considered projects?

Porter?
Nicks?
Evans?
Bushrod?
Harper?
Stinch?
Colston?
Morstead?

Omg. They are already talking about the trades possible because of our second round pick.
Is it possible the Saints were thinking about this when they made their pick?
Of course not.

Our CB pick in round one was one of the 3-4 CB's who graded out as 1st round worthy.......
The OT we drafted in the 2nd, graded out as 1st round worthy...........
the TE has huge upside and potential to be exceptional (if a project).......
Could definitely be worse.

usc mcknight will be our next pick you can count on it
. then qb with the next.
then wr and a kicker.
We will not draft any lolb or de or dt. Because aparently Peyton and Loomis are still high from winning the superbowl and they forgot we needed those positions.

Last year everyone castigated the front office for trading up to take a kicker.........turns out to have been a very valuable weapon......these guys deserve our patience.
Goodnight.
Goodnight.

Can't wait for tomorrow. Happy to have Brown and Graham aboard.
Wish DT and OLB would have been addressed too, but I think the two players we selected will be solid.
While we don't always like or understand the BPA strategy, we just don't know how the Saints had these guys ranked on their board.
If Brown had a late 1st early 2nd grade but an available DT or OLB only had an early 3rd grade or something at pick 64, it would be quite hard to pass on that value.
You can really grade a draft until 2-3 years have passed anyway to see how the guys make the transition to the NFL. Not a single one of us knew who the hell Marques Colston was when he was drafted, but look at him now.
Its fun to hear everyone's opinion and chatter back and forth on the guys we pick (positive or negative) but let's just all remember we all have one thing in common, we're fricking Saints fans no matter what!

The MN Viqueens select DE Everson Griffen - USC. Pretty good value. NFLN said slide was due to off field issues (attitude, etc.)
