blackmon has played and can play Nickel.
4 LINK Julian Blackmon played cornerback for his first three years at Utah (2016–2018) before transitioning to safety for his 2019 senior season. Although he was considered for cornerback roles, he was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in 2020 as a safety and has played exclusively at safety in the NFL.
I’m not sure we should be counting on a guy that has never played corner in the nfl and hasn’t played the position in 7 years to be starting in that role for us. But that’s just me.

I think you proved his point. Staley wanted him for his versatility

You see old corners transition from corner to safety because they get old and slow down.
Not sure I have ever seen a guy that’s been a safety his whole career move to corner.

That’s fair but supposedly he looked pretty good in camp last year. I don’t trust him with his injuries though

We take best player available, regardless.

You keep saying words corner and safety and refusing to say the word nickel. You’re a lame arse joke

He’ll take whatever opposite side of the Saints moves so he can be a queer a year later and talk about how he’d do x, y, or z differently. And if the Saints make a no brainer move he’ll say something like “fair move” to give himself wiggle room. His schtick is old.

So he moved to the slot for one game after an injury so I’m wrong lol?
You didn’t read what I posted, he was a safety his entire career with the Colts. Hes been a safety since his senior year in college. He started as a safety last year for us.
But shite since he filled in one game b/c of an injury, he can play it.
Most players that play nickel are corners. You think Roman Harper could line up at nickel lol? There are exceptions, like the guy I said I don’t know how many times we should have drafted, Brian Branch. Who is more of a safety.

Vaccaro was a safety who was by far most effective when playing the slot, and his second best role was in the box.
But jackass Payton kept wanting to play him at deep safety to run Seattle's Cover 3. Watch 2013 vs 2014 to see the difference. Man blitz scheme in 2013 and Seattle Cover 3 in 2014. Sean had such a fricking hard on for that scheme that he railroaded Ryan out and brought Allen in to run it.
