My friend breauxmo got banned for pointing out the facts. If the saints don’t win the super bowl, it will be bc the offense can’t stay on the field and the passing game is not the threat it once was. I still do not understand the people who refuse to criticize the offense bc of how good they were 5 years ago

Run the ball with timely passing and we will be fine.

Need a healthy line and Snead to come through.

The receivers/tight ends are just abysmal at this point. Brees is throwing deep to blanketed running backs just to get something going. On the deep pass to Thomas the literally had to run kamara right next to him to free him up. Those two are literally our entire offensive life

Honestly, Snead falling off has been as big a reason as anything. He was a very good #2 for us and honestly was one of Brees most trusted 3rd down targets and great in the slot. If we he was producing at his previous level we'd be fine. As of right now Thomas is the only consistent threat.

I agree. I really don’t see this team making a deep run. Hope I’m wrong.

That will win regular season games but will get you one & done in the playoffs. You better put up points otherwise your playoff stay will be short lived. Anyone who was around for the Mora era knows this all too well.

You have to make plays on the perimeter. This team can’t do that against any defense playing solid man coverage. They’ve struggled against bad pass Defenses at times

We have lost 2 games where the defense came up with 3 INTs. That’s unacceptable

do you what the definition of "par" is?

You do know the Saints offense is ranked #1 in the league right? Not sure how much better than the rest of the league they need to be.

You also know on defense we allowed 31 points WITH 3 takeaways, two of which were gifts. Easily could have given up 40+ points.

Maybe you mean our offense has not been good enough to overcome our defense in our losses? Because I can think of at least 3 losses where that's true.

I can show multiple games where this offense struggled on 3rd down & others where they bogged down for multiple possessions or quarters. That will not cut it in the playoffs point blank.

#2 total offense, #5 Rushing offense, #5 Passing offense, #4 Scoring offense. Yeah, we suck.

If there’s a fatal flaw that will eventually lead to the undoing of the Saints, it’s their issues on third down.

After going 3-of-10 against the Jets during Sunday’s 31-19 win, New Orleans has now converted on 37.9 percent of its third downs. This stat is particularly confusing when considering the team is leading the league in yards per game and yards per play.

What’s even more confusing is that most of the team’s issues have come in “manageable” situations, defined here as needing between 3 and 6 yards on third down. The Saints have converted only 37.7 percent of these plays this season.

And in the playoffs you will face some of the leagues best defenses. And you won't score 30 points on them. Nor should you expect to.

Which is why you need a good defense to make a deep playoff run to keep the game close.

There's a reason the say defenses win championships.

31 points with 3 takeaways isn't keeping a game close.

If we lose a game 17-14 or something - we can maybe hang that on the offense. But once you give up 24+ points, the defense is putting the offense in a difficult situation. And we won't go scoring 31 against some of these defenses in the payoffs.

I actually agree this is the biggest issue. It's why they need to stay ahead of the sticks, avoid third downs or limit them to 3rd and less than 3.

Still, classifying the offense as subpar is disengenous

There are several of us that have been pointing out for a few years now that the offense is not nearly as efficient as it was in the heyday despite statistically being ranked highly in ypg. The multi quarter lulls are very real. We desperately need multiple new pass catchers next year.

Keep burying your head in the sand. They are bad on third down and can't sustain drives. That points directly to an ineffective passing game/receivers not getting open.

Everybody can keep pointing out the stats, I really don't care. The Saints can succeed against poor defenses, racking up points and yards. But put them up against an athletic defense who plays tight man coverage they are almost helpless. See Atlanta, LA rams, Minnesota Vikings, Chicago Bears, etc etc. It even took us a while to get going against the Jets secondary, and they were so bold to put 9 guys in the box. If that doesn't open your eyes, I don't know what will

Yet the offense only scored 17 points. 7 points came from special teams with Kamara's kickoff return. That will not cut it no matter how you try to slice it. How about posting the time of possession advantage the Bucs had? The defense was gassed in second half because of the offense's inability to sustain drives.

Yep, and don't forget Tommylee gave them 7. The defense only gave up 24, 7 coming at the last seconds when sean decided to toss the game. Our defense has been great since Week 2 in almost every game.
