Not looking for shite. Just an honest question for this board about offense.

QB is of course the main issue but so is OC. With SP “retired” we need an OC to attract top tier QB talent. And of course the $$$.
Who is the offensive mind now? Allen of course has the defense handled. And unless trades and cap casualties decimate us we’re good.
Anyone brought in for offense? I worry that the guy in the booth with a headset talking to Payton while Payton called the plays is not going to be enough.

Pete carmichael.
They will also be bringing in a senior offensive assistant soon.
I would've liked to bring in another young offensive mind.

Carmichael has been with Sean and the Saints since 2009
He coached the offense on his own in 2012 and put up good numbers. He has also called several other games and continued to perform well when given the chance.
I think he can coach and isnt just an extension of Sean. I would have liked some fresh blood on the staff at the assistant positions to inject new ideas/schemes but think Pete is more than capable of being a good OC in the NFL.
Sean is one of the best Offensive minds in NFL history not just at the moment. So fans need to adjust expectations but Carmichael while the safe pick I do believe was also the right pick.

Can Carmichael attract a guy? Wilson is at Denver now, but would he come here without Payton?
Watson? Not saying the Saints need his baggage. Especially depending on what gets said in deposition and grand jury, but say he gets out with minimal stench, is Carmichael a guy watson would love to play for?

Can Carmichael attract a guy?
The league credits Sean for everything we have been and because of that Carmichael needs to build his own cred outside of Seans shadow. Once that happens he will have some pull around the league.
Watson isnt in a position to control his situation anymore. He threw that out the window. At this point he better hope he gets another shot in the NFL. I would think if given the chance to play here...it wouldnt be for Carmichael. The selling points would be Thomas and Kamara.
as for attracting people...there isnt really that option now to worry about. Saints best bet is to bring Winston back or find someone in the draft they love.

If you watched Saints games you would have seen Pete next to CSP during the games not in the booth.
As for all coaches high and low... winning attracts.

I hope you enjoy retirement Sean!

FIXED. How many interviews did you hear players talk up Carmichael vs how many times they talked about Payton? I don’t believe I’ve ever seen one interview about Carmichael’s brilliance by a Saints player or opponent.

He should probably just stick with assistant OC.
Need some new blood and new eyes in the building for OC.

Carmichael is a cool last name.
I’ve thought so ever since I heard it said on the Rugrats in 1992.
