I was surprised to learn that my name surfaced in transcripts from testimony in the New Orleans Saints bounty appeals hearings Dec. 3. I was utterly shocked to learn the circumstances in which it surfaced, that former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams was fired in part because he allegedly leaked draft information to me in 2011. The scenario Saints assistant head coach Joe Vitt described to former U.S. Attorney Mary Jo White regarding Williams never occurred. There's not a sliver of truth to it, at least as far as my involvement is concerned.

I wonder if Duncan has any evidence to support his claim of innocence.

Probably only the crusty kleenex on his floor surrounding his computer that could possibly be dated.

"Vitt also shared a text he received from Williams that read, "For your information, I've had 20-plus teams reach out to me saying that I must stand firm to take the heat because all teams do this. (Expletive) me."

What does Gregg mean by this? Take the heat and admit the program existed or take the heat and deny it?

The biggest evidence in this whole shitty fiasco is the saints were 31st involving players getting injured from 2009-2011.
So either there was no bouny for injuring players or they were really bad at it.

The one thing that resonates through al of this Bounty Gate nonsense, is that Jeff Duncan is the worse reporter in the history of paper and ink. A total disgrace to the profession of journalism.

The entire scenario speaks volumes about the level of distrust the staff had for Williams at the time and the paranoia that developed at the end of his ill-fated tenure. In his 25-page report on the bounty appeals hearing, former NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue determined Vitt's testimony "could not be given particular weight" because of his "conflicting testimonies" and admission that he "fabricated the truth." In regard to the aforementioned Williams' draft leak, I don't believe Vitt was intentionally lying. I think he fully believed what he testified to be true.

That's interesting.

Vitt should have a job for life with the Saints. So, lets understand what has happened. GW wants players to take out the opponents' asst coaches. GW is allowed back in the league at roughly the same time as Payton, who's only "sin" appears to be not firing GW sooner. And, as a welcoming gift to NO, Goodell re-affirms that the 2nd round pick in 2013 is forfeited. Yeah, everyone remember to be "nice" to Goodell while he's in NO. And, btw, a BIG FU to Jeff Duncan.

What was Jeff Duncan's role in all of this?

Duncan was getting secret info from GW. Payton confronted Duncan about it. From day one, Duncan has had his nose up Goodell's arse, and has refused to consider that there was anything else to the story beyond what came out from the NFL. He went so far as to call Saints' fans delusional for wondering if the NFL was wrong.
