Almost no one in the NFL seems to tackle by wrapping up the ball carrier's legs. I am 63. Has teaching on the technique changed or is it just too difficult to bring down an NFL player by wrapping up his legs?

You kids get off my lawn!

EDIT to add:
I'm sure my experience at Neville High School has almost no resemblance to tackling NFL-level athletes.

Tacking is terrible at all levels of football.

It’s not taught well and certainly not covered in practice well.

Part of the reason is The collective bargaining agreement limits the amount of Time you can allow full contact in practices.

Chris Godwin bounced right off of Taylor yesterday.

And then broke that long touchdown run.

I wouldn't really be able to answer your question though. That'd be something that you would have to ask said player.

Thanks. That's a big part of my frustration in watching the NFL. So many things are a function of luck and beyond a team's control, but tackling fundamentals should be automatic.

Thanks. I didn't know that.

If anyone knows how to tackle please let Dennis The Menace know. Because whatever technique he’s implementing with the Saints ain’t working. The defensive display put on against the Bucs was one of the worst I’ve ever seen at any level of football. Pitiful! Complete lack of effort.

Taylor never even attempted to use his arms on that play. Godwin was kind of in a traffic jam with one of his own players and another Saints player when Taylor came in and just lowered his shoulder into Godwin, which ironically forced Godwin to the outside of the original two players and gavin him a clean path to the endzone.

Taylor realizing that his superman shoulder had no effect on Godwin attempted to make chase but the collision while propelling Godwin forward totally killed Taylors forward momentum and there was no way he could catch up.

That play last year would have ended with Taylor being on the bench.

I think Baker got away from him on a blitz also.

Taylor definitely had a rough day yesterday.

I saw where Kool-Aid got more playing time yesterday.

Doesn't seem like our back 7 like to use their arms. If they hit them with a shoulder or dive at the runner and the runner does not fall down, they are done. Lattimore seems to try to avoid it when he can. Our safeties(the ones that played) are just too slow and always out of position.

most obvious sign a team has thrown in the towel/quit on the coach is poor tackling effort. see yesterdays second half. frick you DA
