Keeping Smith and Vilma isn't bad. Especially with the lack of cap room we have anyways. I'm sure the difference they signed for won't be that large compared to what we would have saved if we cut them. Let's us keep 2 vets. Vilma's leadership, and if we re-sign bushrod it helps. Makes it more sensible that we bring in someone like Victor Butler to replace Herring and fight it out.

Excuse us for wanting players who are a tad better than the ones we keep restructuring contracts for

Good God I'm glad we didn't go for that.

Mike Lombardi should have stayed an analyst on NFL Network

Ian Rapoport ?@RapSheet

DL Ricky Jean-Francois is set to visit the #Eagles, likely tomorrow. If there is no deal, he'll visit the #Colts.

LSUFreek: @LarryHolder So let me get this straight: The worse defense in the NFL decided Will Herring was the only one worth cutting? #saints

I think he'll end up getting drilled by their fans. Not saying that was a bad move. Its just his track record hasn't been that friendly.

Adam Caplan ?@caplannfl

Why is Jean-Francois so highly coveted by 6-8 teams? Only DL capable of playing both end spots and NT in a 3-man front.

FletcherMackel: If Chase Daniel gets a chance to start, leaves NOLA, Ryan Fitzpatrick seems like perfect backup for @drewbrees @saints. Smart, classy player
