More Meachem Class

"I felt like I grew up here," he said emphatically. "The fans helped me grow up. They were always coming up to me with words of encouragement .. 'You're gonna make it'. You don't see that anywhere else. I want to tell the fans and the (Saints) organization thank you for helping me grow. Thank you for being honest. Thank you for always rooting for your team. It meant a lot."
If he could be granted one final wish it would be to have brought home more Super Bowls for the Who Dat Nation. "In my heart, we should have won Super Bowls not only in 2009, but in 2010 and 2011 as well."
A primary part of Meachem's life will always be here. His soon to be three-year old daughter was born in New Orleans. "It's all she knows. This will always be home."
His fondest memory as a Saint, surprisingly, was not a touchdown catch. On December 6, 2009, Meachem aggressively stripped the ball from Washington Redskins safety Kareem Moore, following an interception by the former Nicholls State safety, and raced into the endzone for a touchdown. The unbeaten Saints were aided by that heads-up play to come away with a 33-30 comeback road win in overtime.

Now that's a guy leaving you can wish well for- especially if he's not in your division or conference.

I could see him finishing his career as a Saint

This Saints fan wishes you the best Meachem. Hope you knock it out the park in SD, unless you're playing us.

I think i said it in a post before. But us sending him to SD is a thanks for Brees and Sproles. He is gonn alight it up in San Diego. I wish him the best.

I'd go so far as to say you could have a good pool on what difference there might be in his numbers in SD compared to Vincent Jackson in TB. It's not beyond reason that he could do more than VJ- especially when considering the teams and the QBs.

Yeah I agree. Meachem catching passes from Rivers is gonna be a way better duo than VJ and Freeman

I hope the best for that guy. He was nothing but class while here.

A CSB...
Him, Arrington, and Jacoby Jones play basketball at the UNO Rec on the weekends... All three are real class acts.

I really hope the dude does well in SD, and I think he will.

What more can you ask for from a guy?
Forever a Saint.
Forever a Saint.

Meachem
Makes me even more disappointed we couldn't resign him. Of course I understand that we couldn't but damn it would've been nice to hold on to him.

Nothing but well wishes for Meachem. I loved watching him as a Saint and expect him to do great things as a Charger.

Always liked Meachem, and he's always shown class. I think the guy may have a huge year. I certainly hope he does.
The quote that stands out the most is this...
It actually hurts to read that. Such a stacked team for the past 3 years, and 1/3 is good, but I feel the 2nd Superbowl is becoming long overdue for this team. This coming season the team has a chance to do something fricking awesome, winning it in their city, and I have a good feeling about this happening.

That's quite a stretch. VJ is a legit #1. Meachem is a more likeable Donte Stallworth.

I don't think Meachem is going there to be a #1 receiver. He's a burner, he'll blow the tops off of defenses in that offense.
