Hey Chief, move along.

You are wrong. We could explained it but you wouldn’t be able to grasp the concept.

It will. Every time you watch the saints play the Vikings, you'll think about that play. Same way Vikings fans think about that NFC championship with Favre. Lose with some class

One play led to a Super Bowl victory. (Largely due to the same player that made the initial play.)

The other led to an arse raping the following week. MAJOR difference.

and another poster pointed out in another thread...

the Vikings REALLY don't want to see the Saints in the divisional round

while they have beat the Saints both times to advance to the NFC Championship... both times the Vikings have gotten the brakes beaten off of them in said NFC Championships

(2001... 41-0 @ NYG; 2018... 38-7 @ PHI)

you do realize cause & effect is a thing right

Marcus Williams INT that caused the Viking win did not have the effect of having MIN eventually win a SB

so... sorry... not even top 20 NFL playoff plays

Favre's INT to Porter was a bigger miscue now b/c of the Saints going on to win the SB (and Porter having another game-saving INT in the SB)

yes it caused brees from winning his 2nd superbowl he is chasing. Any random qb can win one. He was trying to cement his legacy, and the one of the alltime choke jobs took place to spoil it. The play will be talked about foe years to come.

Several of y’all upset about the miracle play being less of a thing now. All time choke jobs don’t take place in divisional rounds anyhow. And Brees doesn’t need to worry about his legacy, he’s good. Go back and cry on another board.

but we're talking about when NFL Films shows top all-time playoff plays... this won't even come close to the top 10 simply b/c the Vikings couldn't capitalize on their fortune

Brees probably has another 5 chances to "cement his legacy" (I mean... he's already a sure thing HoFer)... and has a good young team now to do it with

First of all the Vikings choked away a 17-0 lead. 2nd of all, it’s meaningless because the game means nothing now. Winning it doesn’t guarante the Saints win the SB.

So no it’s nothing like the Failclowns loss. Because them not choking that means they are the SB champs.

That wasn’t the point of this thread. Nobody saying we glad Saints lost. Stop being so upset about Saints fans being a “little” happy about something. It will be ok. I’m sorry the Diggs catch isn’t as enormous as it should have been to general football fans. It’s ok.

Im a general football fan. I dont have a favorite team, and live in a house with all saints fans. I go to saints games, and pull for the saints when they play. I was in the dome when the saints beat the vikings to go to the superbowl. Far from a saints hater.. I just dont get the "haha vikings lost, last week means nothing" angle. Last week cost the saints a superbowl trip. They were 60yds and 10 seconds from a nfc champ game to send brees to the bowl to beat tom brady and cement his name as one of the best ever. And then minny miracle happend (and now all of a sudden it didnt) saints still lost. That didnt change. That one miracle cost the saints a superbowl shot.

As angry as I was at him earlier, I now feel sorry for him. Baring him making a play to win a Super Bowl, Williams entire career will be remembered in a highlight reel of the most amazing miracle plays in NFL history.

Nobody is saying it means nothing. We all understand that the saints still lost. But we aren't going to see that play over and over again in the lead up to the super bowl. If the vikings had won today we, as saints fans, would have to relive that play over and over again.

Since the vikings last, that play is done. It's no longer this special super bowl historic play. Now it's just a play and it's over.
