I'd say definitely yes. All jokes aside the kid has proven he can play if you watched him last year and in preseason. Him not making an NFL team is a joke actually and I'm no homo. If you can ball, you can ball. NFL is home to numerous wife beaters, drug dealers, and numerous other crazy thugs. But a gay dude isn't welcome?

It's pretty amazing that he's not even on a practice squad yet. I'm not flat out saying it's bias, but I'd love to hear an educated opinion on how he's not even worthy of a practice squad spot.

If I'm a GM, I have to weigh his value as a player against the obsession the media has with him.

It's kind of a shame.
The guy hasn't really said or done anything unusual since being drafted, but the stupid progressive media is ensuring he'll never get a job.

Just saw he's been invited to appear on WWE Raw. If he accepts, he's pretty much killing any chances of playing in the league.

Bull shite. He's getting exactly what he wanted...media attention. So I don't feel sorry for him at all.

I keep hearing people say this, but there's not much media attention, really. it's just different outlets recycling the same AP story with no real news or conjecture about where he could wind up.

I'd actually be interested in hearing some intelligent analysis about where he could fit and why a seventh round pick who obviously out played his status can't get signed to practice squad

He is a 4-3 DE. We run a 3-4 so NO.

We run a 3-4 in name only

We ran a 4-2-5 a lot and constantly had 4 down lineman

He made 1 mistake with the Oprah bs. Other than that, he's been quiet and hasn't called attention to himself.

The kiss (at least in that manner) was def a mistake. But I agree that he's been very low key since that and oprah rumor.

What other 7th-round pick gets as much publicity as this guy? None.

It's only because he's gay, and the liberal media feed into that.

Perhaps the NFL GMs can see through the TV hype and recognize that he's about as good as where he was picked.

He hasn't gotten that much publicity once camp started TBH. Most of the Sam coverage has been pretty blasé stuff like "he fits in well", "his teammates like him", etc. etc. In fact, I hadn't heard about him for a few weeks until the Saints played the Rams and then it was on our radar obviously. Then I didn't hear about him for 2 more weeks until he sacked Manziel. That's not really that much "publicity" IMO.

The people who are taking your stance ALSO said that there's no way he wouldn't be on a roster (or P.S.) because the "liberal media" or "Goodell" wouldn't allow that to happen. It would make the league look bigoted.

Well, where is this all-powerful liberal media that you speak of? There hasn't been much hoopla at all about Sam not even being signed to a PS spot when he is clearly talented enough for that. In fact, there hasn't been much media coverage at all. Like I said, mostly just recycled wire story that's pasted to all the sites. There's been very little individual reporting or hypothesizing by the guys like Peter King, Florio, etc. The "liberal guys" whom you'd expect to put heat on the teams or the league.

And if it makes you feel better, I think that Tebow was similarly black balled and wasn't judged solely on talent. There's no way in hell that Tebow couldn't have helped a few teams as the 3rd and short QB or something.

This is what Mike Greenberg said as well.

Clearly your assuming a lot here.

It just seems fishy to me that he made it down to the Rams FINAL CUT but yet they couldn't even keep a PS spot for him? Then why wasn't he cut way sooner?

The Rams were pretty clearly being political with it to make themselves look good at first b/c if he wasn't even one of the top 63 guys on the team then why did he make it to the final 57? That math doesn't add up.

You obviously weren't watching preseason games on NFL Network. They had reports on him all the time during games. Way out of proportion to his draft slot.
