Why?

I don't imagine he'll be a great help to the team, but its not like he will hurt us either.

Unless Toon is hurt, I like Toon and Stills better than Meachem. Also, where is the roster spot coming from? Cut Tanner? Will Meachem play special teams? Outside of OLB, I like the roster as it is. Meachem is not the name for me to get excited about, especially since he laid a goose egg in SD.

We dont have that guy on the team this year,
Kenny Stills runs a 4.32 which is faster then Meechum ever ran. We have that this year.

I absolutely love Stills, but I don't think this is accurate.

ETA: NFL.com has his combine at 4.38 LINK

ETA: Meach is a 4.39 according to the same source. LINK

This move makes me sick! Why drop someone younger assuming its tanner or cadet. He is washed up in can not provide anything tonn or still can't.

I've lost my mood ring, so I don't know how I feel about this.

and they really havent used him in that capacity.

He is more of a slot WR than an outside guy.

he averaged 12 yards a catch at OK in 3 years.

Meachem on the other hand, 17 YPC in college

During the preseason, they sure have. I can think of the drop deep down the sidelines early against KC and the great catch also down the sidelines deep versus Houston off the top of my head.

Has averaged 18.9 in the preseason with a long of 40 and 2 TDs in 9 catches. Plus, he is playing outside when Moore is on the field.

If we drop Cadet for this, I'm perfectly fine with the move. If we drop Tanner, Robinson or anyone like that...then I dont like this move.

Point is, they have used Stills to stretch the field during the preseason and will try to do so in the regular season. They needed someone else on the roster with a track record of being able to do so since Still is the only so-called speed threat of the 5 they kept.

Toon has done some field stretching in the preseason. I hope this doesn't mean he is bad off.

Even if he isn't, Toon has been a bit injury prone. Makes sense to have Meachem around if he can still fill the same role here he used to do.

Saints also carried three TE's after 53-man cuts, so they could go with two and 6 WR's. I don't know. I wasn't even aware Meachem was healthy.
