There's a ton of guys like that out there who were thrown in and struggled and given up on. Will Levis, Malik Willis, Trey Lance, Hendon Hooker, the list goes on and on. Guys that with some real coaching, that have natural ability

I definitely think they are wondering the same thing internally right now.

Still think that is the next big trend especially when a team has to pay a guy 40-50 m a year for his second deal and he’s only above average. Swap him out for a guy in that same tier that didn’t luck out with a good organization on rookie deal.

College is so different than the nfl and it’s kind of retarded to expect many of these highly drafted 21-22 year olds to lead a bunch of grown men and completely revamp their playing style to meet the pro game.

Well apparently the Saints defense isn't the only defense in the league that Mac Jones has had a solid game againt.

IDk

What’s the point of this statement. We still would have to find a qb.

The point is that most people think QB is a silver bullet or magic genie or lottery ticket that fixes all ills. It’s not. You have to build a team and have good coaching for a QB to be successful.

JD5 came in with new coaching, and good weapons like WR, TE and defensive players were in place. Cincy spent a lot on defense in Burrow’s rookie year, plus they had Higgins, Mixon and then drafted Chase. Brady had Bellicheck’s defense and they were already good with Bledsoe before he came in.

The love child of Marino and Brady who was homeschooled by Brees isn’t coming in here and winning anything. We need to be patient, draft and develop players, and not buy lottery ticket QB thinking it’s the fix.

Could have used that pick on a Defensive player or OL.

Will Johnson would have been nice...

So until we fix everything else, don't worry about qb? Seems dumb to me

If yiu have the right coach and a decent team, you can win with castoff or recycled quarterbacks.

Tampa didn’t have expectations with Bsker but how many divisions have they won in a row now?

Mac Jones was a top ten pick. He’s undefeated this year. Look at Sam Darnold. It’s why it was so stupid picking Shough so early. This team needs a huge influx of young talent and to get out of the red on its cap.

Loomis did the complete opposite this offseason. His number one goal shoujd have been to take his medicine this year, play as many young guys as you can and not take on any new money or push any dead money into the future.

Umm no. That Washington isn’t really good. Hell the Saints took them to the wire last year. JD5 is just that good.

And reading the rest of your post, your logic is stupid. A good Qb changes a lot. Burrow is stuck with one of the worst coaches in the NFL who only has a job because of Burrow and Chase saving his arse.

QBs that have left these elite offensive minds have gone on to have success lately. We have seen it with Daniel Jones, Baker, Darnold so maybe it’s worth a shot for Mac if he continues to play like this.

Also the Saints offense won’t take much to fix. We really just need to add an explosive playmaker at the top of the draft and figure out the qb position (which this thread is about). The defense on the other hand needs a lot of help.

Bro, you think its Mac Jones is the answer and not Shannahans offense? Every QB has looked great under that offense, its not Mac Jones.

No the other backups have not looked good in that offense. Trey Lance did not look good in that offense along with plenty of other examples.

Also I would need to see a lot more from him also. Not sure how long Purdy will be out though. Just saying it’s seems to be working lately with these high draft picks on their second/third teams and beyond finding some success.

I could honestly see him shipping Purdy. He always wanted Mac Jones and they could certainly get something for Purdy.

It’s time to let go of bitching about the pick at 40. It’s done. Who knows what the alternative would have been?
