To be honest i love the pick.Everyone has said that we were targeting a TE and i think this guy has the best future of any in the draft. He fell to us in the 3rd round and i like it.In a small way makes up for passing on Kindle in the 1st and Griffen the whole draft.i di like the pick of Brown also.He has excellent potential nad we have a good history of drafting OL guys under Loomis and payton. Our staff is very similar to Parcells(Payton learned well)and his staffs. Our guys can motivate and get the best from guys.i think that's why all 3 of our draft picks are guys that may not fit huge needs but potential wise they are among the tops at their positions.

Lester, those two were much bigger "projects" than Graham. That isn't a fair comparison and you know it. Graham scored 5 TDs for a BCS school. What had Ojo and Hilton done when the Saints signed them?

I love this pick as well.
A very athletic tight end with a nasty streak!

Exactly the thinking of most fans.
People are so infactuated with stats.. Which is shocking coming from a Saints fan.. It's hard for any one guy to post pro-bowl type of stats with the way things are ran. The Ball is spread around. Yeah Colston and Bush had awesome receiving stats the first few years but we've evolved since then.

Tell me how many Receptions and TD's did Shockey have last season?

Doesn't mean he wasn't vital to the success of this offense..

This is why so many people in the media bash the frick out of Bush. they don't see those wow type of inflated numbers that everyone expected.

Tell me that Brees can't utilize a 6'6 receiver with near a 40 inch vertical and 4.5 speed??? He is the perfect fit and can play right away. He's much more suited than a guy like Hernandez.. Hernandez would probably bitch about the lack of receptions in our offense any ways.

Hernandez may be safer.. but he's just another regular David Thomas type of tight end. Go run your little post routes and catch some open passes..

This guy brings a Colston type of factor him.. with the passion and energy of a Shockey. It's a great blend.

I don't know anything about those 2 bust you mentioned.. but it is unfair to compare him to those guys.. They didn't have Brees as QB.. i know that much.. and this offense doesn't have to rely on any one guy to be "the guy" in this offense. All about using talent and ability in the offense.

you don't think this is a tad bit over the top and premature?

your gushing over someone who has barely played football

honestly, before we drafted a TE i agreed that graham was the 3rd best tight end prospect.. ahead of Hernandez.

I will just say I like OUR chances here.

And no Hernandez probably wouldn't complain.. but just my opinion we got the most athletic of the bunch and the better fit.. and I agree with you hernandez possesses great speed, but no size. i wanted this guy.. so im gonna defend this pick for sure.. especially over pitta.

i think he is going to break out pretty fast actually. With his measurables and potential its not going to take long.

Not to mention that while at Miami he was playing basketball as well as football. Give him time to focus on football completely and watch the beast grow

This entire paragraph would make sense if Miami ran the Saints offense.

People aren't pointing at his 17 catches and saying he didn't produce his senior year.

I'm pointing out his 17 catches that he had his ENTIRE FOOTBALL PLAYING CAREER, in an effort to show he is going to be a project.

I like Graham said it earlier today and last few months that I wouldn't mind him, but if you want me to pretend like he is a ready made TE and try to pretend like his 17 catches were just a product of the system, well then that is just stupid
