If we sign Clowney for top dollar, what does that say about Davenport? Hate to have wasted those six first round picks.

I'd rather another corner or LB

Doesn't matter. He could go on to 5 All pros or be out of the league in two years. Either way we already spent the picks.

I believe davenport is situational.
His gift is speed.
He charges a tackle and forces a quick tempo play call or confuses a pick up block by an RB.
Send in an LB and let Jordan do his thing.

He's not a bust.. just a specialist.

That being said, Clowney is almost the same but with more power. When healthy.

But if Houston couldn't burn doors down with Watt on the other side , then I'm not sure how much he really brings to the table.

And yes. I know Watt is probably more injury prone but still

I’d rather Logan Ryan to shore up that secondary.

How is Davenport situational? He is one of the better run defenders on our team. We really felt his loss against the Vikings. He also has good pass rush skills that he is developing. He supplies a good bit of pressure in games but he just doesn’t hit home Often. That will come as he developes his game. Really his only knock thus far is his injury history. I am not opposed to signing Clowney but would need to be a 1 or 2 year deal max and I’m not sure we have the cap for that. However having 3 good defensive ends that can rotate and stay fresh can take over a game. You can even drop Davenport to a 3 Tech on some passing downs.

If you could get out of that Malcolm Jenkins signing and move that money towards Clowney, would anyone think that was a bad decision?

I think the Saints should offer Jenkins an opportunity to opt out of his contract and become a free agent.

Doubt he would get more from another team.

Saints have plenty of clowns on the team , so, yes, add one more Clowney to their confederacy hating dunces. It would serve those ingrates well to cancel the season and then Drew retires. They won't sniff the Super Bowl without him.

They can reflect on how despicable and deplorable they were to a man who has contributed so much to the well being of black citizens in New Orleans, both in money and his presence and participation. They can enjoy their victory in making Brees grovel but he will still be a wealthy man in a few years while these self centered players try to figure out what to do with the rest of their lives when the money runs out.
