Starts at the top with Loomis.
Looking back at the Sean Payton departure, it seems as though Loomis is complacent. After a slow start, the Broncos are on fire. Everything downstream is a $hitshow. Salary cap is a mess. Loomis keeps on trying to land studs from the clearance rack. That's not working.
DA was a lazy hire. He's in the house, he has HC experience, he did well with the defense.
Loomis should have investigated other options instead of just handing the keys over to DA. Allen is NOT a HC....never will be.

Any person involved in the decision to give a nine figure contract to DEREK frickING CARR, no matter how small, deserves to be summarily fired.

Benson isn't firing her co-owner.

Loomis has been the problem. As soon as Brees retired they should have started cleaning the books up. Instead we go out and sign honey Badger and Maye. And now Carr. He’s set us back years.

And don’t even get me on the horrible Allen signing.

Yep. The Saints franchise is in a weird spot. The owner is for all intents and purposes a reluctant owner who is only the owner because she inherited the franchise. She's not someone who owns the team because SHE wanted to own a franchise and compete. Thus, she really has no desire to do much to make the franchise better. So the franchise, in effect, is "owned" by two guys. One of whom is the GM...who's not going to fire himself.

The reality being such, does that GM finally accept the Brees era window has closed and it is time to fully rebuild? Even if that means (likely) suffering through some painful seasons in the process.

Regardless of what happens in the final 6 games, the Saints need to (1) turn over the coaching staff at the end of the year...from top to bottom; (2) Start shedding salary in the most reasonable way possible. Even if that means getting rid of some good, productive, and well liked veteran players (3) strongly consider taking a QB in this upcoming draft. Unfortunately, the Saints are stuck with Carr for at least one more year (maybe more). Bring a young QB in. Let him learn for a bit, then put him in...knowing the early results may not be great.

The front office has made a lot of short term decisions that have failed. The issue is we no longer have a top 5 defense and a top tier QB.
We missed our window.

Draft for the future - and dont reach on a QB. Only 2 in this draft and we wont have a shot at either unless we loose every game for the rest of the season. JD has potential but we already have seen it will take him a few years to develop.
