We're doom and gloom, I get it.
We hate michael thomas
We hate andrus peat
honey badger sucks
we have no QB

So let's just eyeball the numbers real fast.

Notable Free agent list:
Marcus Davenport (DE)
David Onyemata (DT)
Jarvis Landry (WR)
Andy Dalton (QB)
Shy Tuttle (DT)
Tanoh Kpassagnon (DE)
PJ Williams (S)
Deonte Hardy (WR)
Marquez Callaway (WR)
Blake Gillikin (P - RFA)
Rashid Shaheed (WR/KR - ERFA)

Cap situation: 54.95mil over the projected cap.

Moves that can't be made:
Cutting Maye or Mathieu: We're talking even post-june 1 eating 8mil dead cap a piece with 0 or 250k to gain.

Trading or Cutting Michael Thomas and Andrus Peat
- Yes, you want it. you can have it (post june 1)
- Saves 16.45mil, 11.8mil in dead cap for CGM
- Saves 11.825mil, 6.546mil in dead cap for Peat

Restructuring:
Marshon Lattimore - saves 10mil
Ryan Ramczyk - saves 10mil
Erik McCoy - saves 8mil
Alvin Kamara - saves 7mil

Those moves alone get you 8mil under the cap

Now the harder decisions/unlikely decisions:
Restructuring Davis (he's 34) but that would save 6mil
Extending Lutz can save 2mil
Trade/Post June 1 Cut Hill saves 9.9mil, 4mil dead cap
Trade/Post June 1 Cut Winston saves 12.8mil, 2.8mil dead cap

Honestly - we should rebuild this offseason in terms of getting something for those heavy contract players (Peat/Thomas) and keep the culture guys (Davis, Jordan) around unless they want to leave. We need draft capital and we need to hit some homeruns with these picks.

Teams have to have a quality QB to win in the NFL. The Saints need to focus on getting enough draft capital to ensure they can obtain a QB to build with for the future.

Davis can’t go anywhere. That would kill the defense

Jordan is a prime candidate but a tough one culture wise

Better to move on a year early than a year too late

Fine with a rebuild if it’s with a new head coach and OC

Only path back to contention is Lamar Jackson if he hits free agency. Can't win without a QB.

Absolutely have to move on from Peat. One of the worst contracts of the Payton era right up there with Byrd, Gallette, etc.

No way in hell I'm extending Davis. Find me a 35 year old MLB worth a shite. Dude's about to fall off a major cliff and it's already happening.
