It was a no-lose situation for Loomis. Chances are overwhelming that the Saints will improve on the worst defensive stats in the history of the league just by lining up. Any pick will have seemed to help, whether that be Vaccaro, Jones, or Floyd.

I mean shite, I wanted Jones too but really, come on. What the frick makes you think you know more about who the Saints need than the Saints Bret? Get off your high horse, I usually actually like your post, go to bed dude.

Once the Steelers picked Jones at 17, game over.

I'll take the Steelers knowledge of defense over the Saints.

Not really. If the D moves up to #30 in the league but still sucks arse and holds the team back no one will say "well congrats on moving the D up two spots".

So if Bills would have taken Jones at 16 would you have trusted their pick? What if Pittsburgh would have been at 14 and took Vaccaro? You would have been pissed we couldn't get him?

That's silly logic.

Steelers have proven to know defense. The Saints have not.

BRex your reasoning, much like many others on this board and even the so called experts, had one fatal flaw: We did NOT NEED another young, fast pass rusher. We have 3 already, plus a solid d-line rotation(and ILB rotation).

Our needs on defense were clearly safety and corner(both this year and the next with Harper, Jenkins, and Greer all possibly being gone next year).

The thing we are missing at OLB is experience and cover skills, which we were not getting through the draft. Everyone who thought we were taking Jones were misguided and mislead by the misguided media.

Next time pay attention to the roster and what we lack this year and who might be gone next year. It tells a much better story than the media.

Still think Mingo is going to be far better than Jones.

A lot of those steelers defensive players were picked a while ago. Just saying.

Harper will move to hybrid sack master a position that our coach came up with when he was out last year. I fine with the pick get Harper out and move him up to a blitzer only. He suck in coverage.

How is using history as a guide NOT good logic?

I'll live with the pick. I hope the FO is spot on. I'm a Saints fan.

But... if I had to have an organization make a defensive pick I'd take the Steelers history over the Saints.

ETA: Sed Ellis, Patrick Robinson, Malcolm Jenkins ... all dudes hated on this board.

My point is it was TWO PICKS LATER. How do you know what they weren't planning for something else but got KV or Lotelelui taken from them and regrouped? You don't, but you think you know. Typical message board idiot.
