Statistically, they are very similar this year.
Based on the past, it sure looked like Mayfield was a bigger risk.
Many on here, if not most, were not enamored with either.
Fire Dennis Allen.

A bigger risk? Bucs got him on a cheap (I think $4 million?) 1 year prove it deal. We sunk $150 million into Carr. How is that more risky. Your opinion is stupid

I meant risk in terms of performing, specifically not quitting on his team as he seemed to do before.
Carr is on a deal that is 100% voidable after year two so unless the front office does something stupid like renegotiate his contract they haven't sunk $150 million into anything. They will have sunk $60 million in though.
Your grammar is atrocious. Best I got

They are both average at best. They are both journeymen QBs.

Now you’re just making stuff up. This board is so delusional. Mayfield isn’t great but for $4 million? He’s actually won a playoff game. Pretty sure both Taysum and Jameis make as much if not more than him. Y’all can’t even admit that y’all were wrong

I think most people will admit that Baker was the better deal but does create an interesting issue for Bucs as well. After the season Baker has had- can you just let him walk and if you don’t do you tie him up on a big deal? To top it off mike evans is gone after this year, they need to be retooled as well and did getting Baker just delay that process?
That being said still a cheaper and much better decision than us signing Carr.

What is there to admit? I didn't want Carr or Mayfield. If I had to choose now, I would choose Mayfield, hindsight is a wonderful thing like that. Neither is likely to be the future of their franchise.
Not sure why you feel the need to simp for another team's QB.

If the OP had just said something like this instead of a juvenile
Carr is not it, that much is clear to me. I think to most.

Let's not forget we have a dysfunctional OC. Kinda skewes the data here.

I was one of the few that defended Mayfield. But I’ve been saying since Brees retired to do exactly what Tampa did. Get any decent level starter trying to prove himself like Mayfiekd, Bridgewater, Dalton for no more than 5 million to get our cap back in shape. That should have been the first priority after Brees retired and Loomis has failed miserably.

When did he ever quit on his team? Dude had like
5 OCs. If anything Cleveland quit on him. By all accounts Baker is a pretty good teammate who his teammates respect. Carr….

I’ve heard completely different stories. He was a grade A douche and most people inside the organization thought he’d have to be humbled to ever reach his potential.
It kinda happened when no team wanted him when they tried to trade him.

A 60 million sunk cost is on a whole different plane compared to 4 million. You serious lol?

During the game, Kevin Harlan and his partner were raving about how beloved Baker is in the Bucs locker room. Same for Rams. I’ve heard Mike Lombardi say the same thing a month ago

In that I was pointing out that 60 million is not 150 million, yes I was serious. Nowhere did I suggest it wasn't significantly more than 4 million nor that the Saints didn't get the worse of the two deals between Mayfield and Carr. They obviously did.
And merry Christmas, you old wino
