Daniel Lasco apparently has avoided a career-ending injury.

The Saints running back will miss the rest of the season with a bulging disk after being taken off the field in an ambulance during Sunday's win over the Bills, NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reported.

The second-year rusher was injured late in the second quarter while covering a kickoff when his head collided with Bills kick returner Brandon Tate's thigh. Lasco remained on the turf for several minutes but raised his hand to the cheer of the New Era Field crowd before being placed in the ambulance on a stretcher and transported to the hospital.

The team confirmed that Lasco had a spine injury and was in the care of team doctor Michael Hartman as he underwent further evaluation. Saints coach Sean Payton was optimistic about Lasco's condition after the game.

"I think all the signs are positive, his movement and everything. I think that's encouraging," Payton said.

Lasco, 25, was selected out of Cal by New Orleans in the seventh round of the 2016 NFL Draft and has spent most of his first two seasons as a special-teams coverage specialist.

Good news considering how bad it looked. Speedy recovery.

Glad it's not career ending.

Think he's already back. Maybe they can sign Joseph Morgan.

If all he has is a bulging disc after that collision then he certainly should be thanking his lucky stars. I suspect most of us posting here over the age of 30 have some degree of disc bulging.

That was a brutal collision. Glad to see it wasn't much worse
