Your lack of a compelling arguement or facts is atrocious, you should really get your facts straight before trying to rip on people...

I honestly can't comment on this because I never saw Archie play! But I have his statistics:

Manning was selected to the Pro Bowl in 1978 and 1979. He went on to conclude his career with the Houston Oilers (1982-1983), and the Minnesota Vikings (1983–1984), where the teams posted a collective record of 6-35! He ended his 13-year career having completed 2,011 of 3,642 passes for 23,911 yards and 125 touchdowns, with 173 interceptions. He also rushed for 2,197 yards and 18 touchdowns. His 2,011 completions ranked 17th in NFL history upon his retirement. His record as a starter was 35–101–3 (26.3%), the worst in NFL history among QB's with at least 100 starts.

I've always liked Archie because he seemed like a nice person. But you have to admit that having a guy with a career 26.3 win percentage as the "face" of your franchise summarizes how bad the Saints were...

Point being, it's time to move on...Drew Brees is now the face of the franchise and the WHO DATs!

What is the point of bringing this up?
"Oh well, he made his money in Louisiana and didn't even send his kids to LSU."
So fricking what. He doesn't owe LSU anything.

But hey

In the day, the Saints were consistently terrible--just god awful. There were teams that had worse seasons, but over the long haul, the Saints stunk up the NFL like no other. Among many lows were when the winless 0-26 Bucs blew the Sanits out in the Dome for their first ever victory.

Good points! That's why the win over the MN Vikings was so emotional and important. It exorcised too many demons to even list (including the MN one).

That's why I also say, it's time to move on. Thank you Archie, but now we have Drew Brees....

Once a neck always a neck. Archie's a good ole boy and all, but he's always going to be a Mississippi neck, and the identification with Louisiana will never really be complete because of it. IOW, he will never truly be a Louisianian, nor will his kids. You're kidding yourself if you believe the family is true blue New Orleanean. The Mississippi roots run deep, and always will, as will be the hatred for all things LSU.

Does he not live in New Orleans? Did his kids not go to school in New Orleans until college? He played at Ole Miss. Of course he's not a LSU fan.

This thread is ridiculous.

People can move on and still revere Archie as one of the all-time great faces of the saints. Any Saints fan would understand that.

Much like LSU fans revere Cholly Mac. or whoever from long ago

Archie is idolized because of

Manning to Danny Abramowitz for another long TD, making the final score 42-40.
Saints win!
