I thought it was hilarious at the time and loved that he stuck up for his QB... maybe the game cost us a playoff game and maybe it didn't... sports is supposed to be fun and that was fun. I'm sure that if we made the playoffs our performance would have been forgettable, but Turley's Toss was not. I salute the man.

I was there. No one in the crowd seemed to be mad at Turley. In fact, I was surprised to see several normally level-headed season ticket holders absolutely lose their shite and hurl half-full beverages and whatnot at the field after he was penalized.

If it would have had an officials head in the helmet it would have been worth it

I was there...Anyone who was mad at Turley is ignorant, except a Jets fan. He was taking up for his QB...

No one hated it. Mad he didn’t throw it further.

Turley was 100 percent justified given the circumstances. It wasn’t a football play by the jets thug whatever his name was . He could have broken Brooks neck. If you ever wanted to know what a joke the nfl’s fake concern over player safety is, start there.

If he did that and Brees was quarterback, everyone would praise him.yeah we lost the game but he didn't let people make dirty plays on his quarterback

That cost the Saints the game.

This play is Kyle Turley in a nutshell. Really good player, competitive, fire for his team and teammates, but no real self control or appropriate response. Dragging the guy off Brooks, no problem. Continuing to drag the guy down the field and ripping his helmet off got him the penalty.

Do we need guys to have a bit more passion at times, sure. Do we need guys with no self control who cost us games? I say no.

Was the same night Mariano Rivera blew game 7 of the World Series vs the Dbacks. Remember the Jets fans were just as upset as the Saints fans leaving the Dome.

Same night as Game 7 of the World Series. I remember the Yankees losing and then seeing Turley toss the helmet not too long after.

One thing you have to consider is that Saints football wasn't as "high stakes" back then. If this happened now, people would be mad about the playoff implications of losing the game. Back then we'd seen the Saints win exactly one playoff game in 30+ years. No one was thinking Haslett would win a Super Bowl. We were just having fun.

defensive lineman grabbed brooks helmet and bent it so far back it was clear he was trying to injure him if not break his neck

turley sees it and goes after him, protecting his QB

I'll take that guy on my team all day everyday
