Just curious, what's CSP's trade value?

Not that I think that would happen.

i think the threat of retirement is all about "just release me"... trading payton is a pipe dream.

Na

If he's gonna retire, retire. If he still wants to coach, we will get our trade

Look at Bruce Arians

He is under contract for 3 more years. If he wants to coach somewhere else before that, the Saints will have to be compensated. That is what contracts are for. Loomis isn't running a charity.

sean payton retires
saints hire a coach
next year, payton wants to coach...

how's that work?

Payton is a way better coach.

Great, go find a team willing to give us what we ask, or stay retired?

The Patriots gave up a first rounder and more to the Jets for Belichick before he ever won a Superbowl and had failed at the Browns. What is a Superbowl winning probable Hall of Fame coach like CSP worth?

i think its a bit wishful thinking. i think there's too much respect for payton from the organization to treat him like a hostage.

Arians hadn’t won a super bowl yet. Last couple years in Arizona didn’t make the playoffs. Think his exit was mutual.

None of those factors are the same here.

He ain’t being held hostage. He can go wherever he wants and work out an agreement with that team. Saints should still be compensated for it.

I'll take a 1st, Parsons and Lamb for Payton and Thomas.

Arians is ten years older, was thought to be washed up, and did not have nearly the rep Payton has. But I will agree that Payton's value will be higher if he doesn't sit a year. The Saints should pray that Jerry Jones or the Texans go after him hard immediately. Two teams that are known to do stupid things when it comes to coaches and draft picks.
