Drew Brees was good but not great until he came to the Saints. That is possible too for Carr. We just need a Payton-like offensive mind to go along with him, that’s all. Should be easy to get Carr on a path to greatness. People are underestimating Carr.

carr has elite tools as far as arm strength and accuracy(in controlled conditions), but sometimes he tries too hard. he's got some bad habits, but i think that has a lot to do with him being part of bad teams and a horrible organization. in his mind, he believes he constantly has to make something out of nothing( a lot of times it's true). funny thing is, he's pulled that off quite a bit. leads the nfl in 4th quarter comebacks and game winning drives since he was drafted.

The odds of this happening, regardless of coaching, are incredibly slim.

I'd say he was very good and exhibited the traits that made him great.

Brees was a 5 year player who did not start year one. 2 winning, 1 .500, and 1 losing season with a 30-28 record at San Diego. He was 27 years old in his first season as a Saint

Carr is a 9 year player who started from game one for the Raiders. He had 2 winning, 1 .500 and 6 losing seasons with a 63-79 record with the Raiders. He will be 32 in his first season with the Saints assuming this deal goes through.

The odds he can put it together like Brees with whatever offensive mind he has does not seem likely. I'd say Matthew Stafford is a better comparison.
