There was a Saint in New Orleans during the wrath of Hurricane Katrina and his name is Joe Horn, pro-football player for the New Orleans Saints. As I sat in my room at the Hilton Riverside, New Orleans, on Saturday two days before Katrina was scheduled to directly hit New Orleans, I weeped while I phoned home to North Carolina, to speak with my mother and my children. It had been confirmed that my flight was canceled along with that of my husband and 50 others. We all were frantically trying to evacuate. I sobbed as I was told by each rental car company that there were no cars available. I thought I was trapped. But, unbeknownst to me my mother had placed a call to Joe Horn to see if he could help. I hadn't spoken to him in over 20 years. Joe was a friend of my sister's in high school and had always kept in touch with my mother. This wonderful man personally came to pick up my husband and I and arranged for his driver to drive us from New Orleans to Atlanta, Georgia, at his expense, at which point we could fly on to Fayetteville, North Carolina. I'm still amazed at his generosity and I will always be grateful to him. There is truly a saint in New Orleans!! Thank you, Joe Horn. You're my hero!!

Okay, true story. After Katrina, my father-in-law was trying to figure out what to do about his flooded home. We were at the house one day before the water had gone completely down, and my father-in-law had a heart attack. I was in a panic, but I looked up and Peyton and Archie Manning were pulling up in an airboat. Immediately, Peyton jumped out and gave my father-in-law CPR. Thank God, his breathing returned to normal. Archie lifted the old man onto the boat and we hauled arse to the water's edge, where the Mannings had their driver waiting. We made it out to Armstrong Airport in record time, and a chartered jet was waiting. Well, as you might expect, we made it to a hospital in Knoxville, and the old man is now okay. When the medical bills showed up, Archie and Peyton paid for everything.
So you can see why I think they're okay.

I just remember Joe Horn being interviewed by Terry Bradshaw on the Fox pre-game one Sunday. Bradshaw asked him in a roundabout way about the Willie Roaf-wife situation. Horn then begins to address the question but says "this is off the record". Bradshaw just starts laughing and asks if he's kidding. the cameras are rolling, the lights are on, he's just starting to structure his answer and he's too dumb to either realize what off the record means, or that the interview was being taped.

Joe Horn was a Saint true and true. He is probably the most prolific receiver the Saints have ever had. He finished just short of Eric Martin's career numbers but did so in 2 less seasons. He had the top 4 most prolific receiving years we've ever seen. He was a part of our first playoff team and a major part of it as well. He was one of the first pieces to the Saints passing game which we had zero of for quite some years. He got in a spat with Payton and liked to run his mouth. Sometimes we loved him for it, sometimes it made us cringe. In any case, he was a Saint and i'm not going to sit here and talk shite about him because he got in Payton's doghouse. That's on him. Doesn't change what he did for us.
ETA: And for the record, Joe Horn was on Mike and Mike this morning and had not a damn negative thing to say about the organization and was happy as can be for the Fans of this city and is still rooting for this team.

Then why don't he just sit back, watch the greatness and shut the frick up? The answer: Because it's always about Joe. That's why Payton hates his arse. He can say what ever the frick he wants to now but he straight up said the Saints should move to San Antonio. It's easy to say shite 5 years later but I don't remember Joe being such a Saint fan until this year. frick him. Deuce will always deserve the Super Bowl ring more than his sorry arse. End of story.

Damn straight.
And I'll add that it's really easy to sound magnanimous years later when he's looking for some positive attention and love from Who Dat nation. The bottomline is that JH was a VERY good reciever, but an attention grabbing, loud mouthed dick on and off the field. He rubbed me the wrong way with his attitude and baggage. He's a douche DESPITE his great skills. No one can argue this point.
If Chad and others want to overlook his personal issues and worship him as some sort of Saints hero because he was the only receiver worth a shite during his tenure, thereby inflating his stats, that just makes them morons.

He was watching the game in the terrace seats or some shite. He isn't making this about himself and he still feels a part of this team which is great because he was a huge part to our team turning it around post ditka.

I love Payton like everyone else but he doesn't like anyone who talks back to him. Him and Payton don't get along and Payton went his separate ways. As a fan of both, I don't feel the need that I have to pick a side here.

So did Benson. I forgave him and Joe was being a yes man to boss man. Joe moved on and did what he could to help our city when they came back. Get over it. It was an emotional tough time for everyone.

Wait, you bitch when you see him and now you're bitching cause you haven't seen him. Joe's been bitter about the situation with Payton and his dismissal. Whatever, i understand but he brought some of it to himself on his own. Again, no need to choose a side being a fan.

Not saying this is a deuce vs joe horn thing. I can certainly understand Joe's feelings if he feels left out though. That's understandable IMO but again nothing that we have to choose a side on. I still love Joe for what he brought to our organization when he was a Saint and i'm happy he's still rooting for this city's success.

By that theory, Deuce was the only running back worth a shite after we traded Ricky therefore his numbers are over inflated.

Where was he last year?

You'll have to ask him. So if you weren't at the superdome last year, you aren't a saints fan?

For Joe Horn, yes. It's not like he doesn't have the money or the time to be there. Now all of a sudden we're suppose to give a shite because he's pissed the Saints brought Deuce back and he didn't get an invite? Please. Joe "Hollywood" Horn, the nickname he gave himself btw, will always be about Joe Horn.

And as soon as someone recognized him, OH MY!! IS THAT A CAMERA!?!?! fricker was on the radio and TV a day later. Douche. He most certainly IS making about JH.

It's called control. Sucessful NFL coaches have it, losers don't. SP has control and the players we have now believe every word he says and buy into his system and a trip to 2 NFCCG and a SB are the results.

And frick Benson for that shite. You think he CHOSE to keep the Saints here? frick no. The numbers didn't work out b/c no one could promise that the Saints would be successful in another market. Had the numbers been right, they'd be gone and Benson would be smoking cigars rolled from 100's. frick him too. The best thing he ever did was turn it over to Rita and Loomis. JH was one of the only players to make his thoughts public. HE CHOSE to say those things out loud. He could have been a yes man to Benson, and kept his arse out of the media, but he didn't. He has no balls. frick him.

So in other words, you like Joe because he helped us lose in the playoffs twice. And for that, you'll over look the fact that he's a selfish prick? Got it.

I've never claimed that Deuce is a HOF RB or the GOAT. I'm saying his value to the Organization is measured by more than just TD's and yardage. He was required to do a helluva lot more than run the football. And off the field, there is no better example of class, integrity and loyalty. Statistically, he was just above average. Put it together as a package deal, and he's irreplaceable.
JH was asked to catch the ball and block some DB's on running plays. Hmmmm. And he couldn't even do those things without running his damned mouth. Because he's an a-hole.

You have to admit that it's strange to say the least, that he shows up in the stand for the NFCCG all of a sudden. If he wanted to "support NOLA and the Saints", he could have become a townie after he was cut from the Falcons. He could have "been around" since then, but he hasn't.
Saints get press and possible SB, boom, Joe shows up. HE'S. A. DOUCHE.
Posted on 1/27/10 at 10:35 am to Chad504boy
Maybe I'd feel a little more appreciation for Joe if he hadn't said the things he said on his way out.

If willie roaf wanted to make sure he came back to see this game... I don't think your strangeness theory would apply. I don't think its that strange at all. It's the biggest game in the dome this franchise has ever witnessed and he wanted to be there for it. SO what.
