I don't need to see anymore dunks over the goal post, I got it Jimmy.

Colour me crazy but that's what I'm looking for in a player.
Or cell phones.
Its not a race thing.

Yeah, I'm hoping we can keep him. I don't think we should pay him WR pay because, duh, he's a TE.
Get his arse to stay, fix some D and OL, we'll be bawse.

great when he is the top dog in the house but the minute he has has to be World Class it just ain't there.

Football fans have such short memory. The play against SF in the playoffs a couple of years ago would have gone down as one of the greatest clutch plays (ETA: Against elite competition) in the history of the franchise if Gregg Williams hadn't choked the game away. And a great deal of the play was on Jimmy.

Who said anything about a race thing, I am talking basketball, he is a basketball player at heart, those guys play physical but not as physical as football and if he did not know that, he knows it now.

What would your reaction be if your boss came up to you today and told you that you would have to take a pay cut to keep your job? Would you be happy? Would you look for a new job?

What about if a competitor of your employer offered you twice the salary that you are making now? Would you take it? If yes, then where is your loyalty? What is your sense of shared goal?

To add to your conundrum, what if it was essentially guaranteed that you'd be out of a job by 35, and most likely out of a job by 30? What if it was a certainty that someday soon, the team you've committed years to will cut ties with you in favor of some guy who is younger and cheaper? What if the millions of fans you entertain at great personal risk will applaud them for it?

others will take pay cuts.
Players NEVER take pay cuts. The may restructure the contracts to make it LOOK like they took a pay cut (Tom Brady a few years back) but it's a giant myth that players take pay cuts to help the team. Players don't give a shite about their team, and that would include Graham and Brees.

Vilma, Harper, and Smith all took actual, literal pay cuts last year.

Yes it's rare but it happens. Restructuring salary into bonus is much, much more common, but to say NEVER when it has is being obtuse.

I really wish our players had the attitude of a shared goal to have the best squad, rather than predominantly on their individual pay.
Huh?

To be fair, they took pay cuts because they were all getting paid well over their fair market value. For Vilma and Smith at least it is likely that they would take a pay cut or get paid nothing because they would likely have been forced into retirement. I guess Jazzy Jeff Duncan would have been more correct if he had said that players never take pay cuts when they actually have options.

Keenan Lewis took less money than his worth to play for the Saints.

That's taking less money. Not a pay cut, but hey, less money than what he could've garnered.

Fair enough. I knew that we got something of a deal on him, but I didn't know it was like that. That's pretty cool and really rare.
