Everyone said Brees choked twice and JG against seattle.
Everyone says Manning choked against seattle.
Everyone says Kap and the frisco off choked against seattle.
There is a common denominator here.

Peyton Manning is not the greatest quarterback of all time
debatable.... I think he is, but that's strictly opinion

he also has a major choke problem

The Saints have a cap issue.
I'm not sure how much of a fact that this is. There very well could be a few bad contracts coming off of the cap as well as a larger increase to the cap coming along by the time that we need to re-sign some of those defensive players.

Drew Brees needs an elite oline infinitely more than he needs elite receivers
I can at least agree that the offensive line needs to be improved. RT and C? Is Armstead the answer at LT? We're pretty much stuck with the two guards that we have. There's more discussion that can be had separately.
Either way I think that it's possible to sign Graham and still accomplish the other goals. A lot of his demands have been overblown as part of the negotiation process. We'll see how the reality of the situation shakes out.

I'd say Brees requires neither, but that's just me. And I'm not necessarily commenting on what the Saints SHOULD do, but what they're more likely to do.
Despite Brees' contract, and imminent contracts for the likes of Cameron, Hicks, Gallette, Vaccaro, etc. etc., AND needs at WR and OL, I think they're in a BOOM-OR-BUST phase and have been for several years now.
They know Brees' window is closing and will keep the pieces around him as long as possible. Then in 2018 or so we'll be bringing the paper bags back.

Pretty much. They are going to keep on pushing contracts into the future until Brees retires then the roster is going to get blown up.

Jimmy, while talented and great, cannot be paid a ton of money because we don't have that money to give. So he can either take average te money and try to be on a super bowl winning team or he can sign a huge contract with a shite team that has a bunch of money and be forgotten in a few years.

If they sign him and dont use the franchise tag on him then who would it be used on?

Didn't we recently keep Megatron pretty much shut out? Bracket coverage?

Jimmy Graham is one of if not the best tight end in the NFL. The issue is the Saints would be better off as a team to trade him. You must see the big picture present and in the future.
I see it as how much overall impact can Jimmy make vs what we could get for him in a trade.
So what would be the best trade for him...
2 first round picks
1 first round pick plus one proven veteran in his mid 20's
Either of the above, plus how much $ will you save on the cap? 6M?
So with that 6M who else could you bring in?
I see it as getting 3 players of top calibre vs 1 Jimmy.
1 first round pick OL
1 first round pick WR
Free agent - for the 6M - Top Cornerback
Saints drafts - BPA
Remainder of cap $ used to retain present free agents and secure reputable backups.
Looking to the present and future I think we would get a better value by trading him.
Hats off to Jimmy he is a top NFL talent.
Pay him what he is worth but not out of Benson's account.I have nothing negative whatsoever to say about Jimmy. Lay out everything on the table and see what will benefit the team the most now and the next several years.

goatmilk, not sure if you mean it will be hard to do better. Does not matter to me either Graham has already shown he cannot play in the big game, no reason to keep him, begin the long search - he done.

Maybe Brees could of had a better game too?
Maybe Seattle focused on JG as they did not consider any other WR's weapons?
Maybe CSP could call a better game?
maybe a running game would free of more open lanes to pass?
Maybe JG plays better when not injured?
Maybe people want a easy explanation to losing?

seriously a SOLID poste agree with most but Graham did not bring it, period. Now if he is hurt or soemthing I do not know about but as far as I can see he did not bring and does not have it to bring. He is a bit like a bully, great when he is the top dog in the house but the minute he has has to be World Class it just ain't there. I don't need to see anymore dunks over the goal post, I got it Jimmy.
