Ok. I lied. Going back, i was not downvoted.

But I did say he wouldn't make the team. I was probably wrong about why I thought so.

This is fair.

I guess he saw where he was in the pecking order and decided not to put the pads on

He was looking really good throught otas and the first couple days of camp. He was likely to make the roster.

He had some juice.

There is 4 guaranteed locks in front of him. It was doable but he was in a battle

I don't think its all about his skills but what's going in his head/life. Wish him well.

There were 5 guaranteed locks including Polk.

Brown was always going to be used for a specific role and there was a good chance he outsnapped Lance early in the season.

Y'all are quick to say I'm wrong for completely different reasons but won't acknowledge being dead wrong about both opinions regarding Polk...

His skills were good enough for him to be in rotation this year and we indeed did NOT replace him with a random vet WR like many said we would.

So fans were wrong TWICE and I was only wrong by default due to something completely irrelevant.

I wasn't even counting Brown as a lock. Polk being less of a special teamer is a reason I'd would've given Brown an edge though. That's 5 in front of him though if you're making Brown a lock.

I meant to say 6 locks including Brown. I don't think anyone put Tipton > Brown and now he's hurt so that's guaranteed.

We traded for Polk and he didn't play a snap yet. You don't do that. He was always going to make the roster no matter what, even if it was just to save face. Not sure why that's hard for some of you to understand.

Even if he's close to Palmer, Means, etch you keep him for what you gave up.

Its more telling because we did the opposite of what everyone said and specifically didn't bring in a Vet WR... Because we traded for Polk. Drafting WRs was inevitable and I never argued that.

Brown plays a specific role on offense and ST.

The battle was Polk/ Vele and then Polk/Lance once we drafted him. There's absolutely no information that would support Lance > Polk to start the season and we only heard good things about Polk.

They did a late round pick swap, that is the very definition of a flyer. That amounts to less than an actual 6th round pick, and guys in rounds 5-7 routinely do not make the team. This very franchise has drafted countless guys in those rounds that never even made the initial roster.

This opinion is fricking dumb. You are completely incapable of understanding the situation, how the league works, or admitting when you are completely wrong.

The guy did not even last 4 days in camp. The patriots let him go for almost nothing after picking him in the 2nd round the year before. He was never a lock, and him retiring immediately upon seeing real competition is proof of that.

Just swallow your pride and admit you were wrong man. There's no use dying on a hill for a player that didn't make it 4 days of camp

Not much of a debate. 4th rd drafted rookie would've won that toss up unless Polk was looking like a starter.

You don't take a flyer on someone and not actually intend to evaluate the flyer..

And where can I find the info saying he WASN'T? All I've heard/ seen is that he looked good and was getting high snaps.

Even in the retirement news it was unexpected specifically because he looked good and planned to get snaps.

Can anyone provide any piece of info that says he looked bad or that he may not make the team from a respected source? Something that came out this current offseason while players are actively being evaluated?

Looking good in mini-camp and one day of training camp does not make a starter

It was also unexpected because he's a 24 yr old former 2nd rd pick. Notice nobody treated the news as a devastating blow to the team though.

Yeah that is what OTAs and Camp are for.

That is not a "lock" of a roster spot

Its patently absurd to say that, especially when the dude didn't make it 4 days

It also doesn't sound like he doesnt have a solid chance of being a starter.

What info do you have that supports Lance being above Polk or expecting more minutes?

At the very worst Polk was starting > Lance with Lance having a chance to pass him later in the season.

Neither was starting but what they gave up for Lance made him vastly more likely to make the roster.
