I hope not. He's not what you'd call a 'good football player'. He's got 81 total tackles and 6 sacks.......over 3 years. I'd rather have Billings, Robinson or Shaq Lawson.

If we want to go with Allen, we could probably trade down. I would personally prefer Buckner though. My four favorite scenarios that I think are plausible:

1. Treadwell- I think defensive picks are obviously going to dominate our next two drafts. I say we get him since this is pretty idiot-proof, and basically forget about offense for next two years outside of getting an OG.

2. Buckner- assuming we are still going 3-4, he would be perfect. I didn't get to see a lot of him this year but PFF has been all over him for the past season. There is a chance he slips down to us due to Bosa being taken first.

3. Doctson- after trading down, I think we can snag him later in the round

4. A'Shawn- again, assuming we are still going 3-4, would obviously take a huge amount of pressure off Jordan

I believe Laquan Treadwell will last until the 12-15 range. Corey Coleman, Tyler Boyd and Josh Doctson should all be available in the second round. Any of the above 4 would be fine.

I'm interested to see how he comes back from his knee injury and where he gets drafted considering he barely played at all this year.

Myles Jack is considered a top-10 lock even with the injury. Jaylon Smith was considered one as well before the injury, but who knows where his stock sits right now.

As for the question posed by the OP, I would say yes to Treadwell being the only acceptable 1st round offensive selection. The only other position that could be justified is OG, and my favorite - Josh Garnett, Stanford - isn't worth a mid 1st.

even if jaylon drops to a 2nd or 3rd, i read where he has a 5 mill insurance policy for i think if he drops out of round 1.
