Sad that saints lose a top young defender.

if his market value is at least 14-15 million a year and could be as high as 17 million but his tag was only 12
I dont know why we wouldnt at least tag and shop him or tag him and see if he caves on his contract demands...if he didnt you just force him into next years FA
at the end of the day this is a business and it just doesnt seem smart to let a guy who will be as valued as he will be go for free

So is Williams gone?
I'd be surprised if he is on the saints roster next yr.
Like the poster above said they should've tagged him at the very least.
I think he gets 16 mil and they didn't want to pay that. Which is smart if you have a cheaper replacement.
Honey badger doesn't cover the ground of marcus williams.
I just don't understand why they didn't invest in the draft last year if they knew they didn't want to pay him.
That dumb ian book pick could've been used at safety or another spot.

I was shocked they didn’t tag him just as insurance not to lose him. Loomis dropped the ball on this one. People give him shite but he’s one of the game’s best center high safeties. He’s too 5 in coverage at his position and only 25. He’s the type of guy you give a big deal to especially in today’s game defenses are largely driven by good safety play. He’s worth that 4 year $60-64 million deal.

No reason not to tag him. You cut Jenkins to fee up the cap room. He’s easily more replaceable.

People give him shite because of some missed tackles, but don't realize how rarely that happens.
Meanwhile the rest of the leagues' safeties are getting blown by which is why NFL game scores are looking like video games. We were blessed to have him as our safety the recent seasons.

Good Riddance, Single handely cost us 2x playoff games.
Vikings when he tackled Crawley.
Vikings when he got bit on the fake and got burned by Thieland
