You guys expecting a top tier potential HC to hitch his wagon to the Saints are setting yourselves up for disappointment.

You guys expecting the Saints to hire any HC that makes this team competitive in 2025 or 2026 are setting yourselves up for disappointment.

The list of legit potential HCs the Saints will likely had to choose from will look like this;
Aaron Glenn
Kliff Kingsberry
Mike McCarthy fine gets fired
Darren Rizzi
Eric Bieniemy
Jon Gruden If he isn’t blackballed
Maybe one of the college coaches trying to break into the NFL. But I doubt they go with someone with no NFL experience.

Of that group Rizzi and Glenn have to be at the top of the board.

This is just the reality of the Saints situation.

This list is absolutely horrible and is not the list at all. The saints also aren’t notorious for firing coaches quickly. See the history of the saints. I expect them to have a decent list and have guys like Johnson and Vrabel near the top. I don’t expect those to be who we get but it wouldn’t shock me at all. There’s 4 coaches who won’t be part of it imo. Sanders, Fat McCarthy, Gruden, Kingsbury (this is laughable as his offense is being ripped apart and he’s done nothing to earn another shot). The more i watch the lions Glenn seems to be a guy who has the ability. Their defense is unreal with the amount of injuries they have sustained. All of this talk about wanting an offensive coach means nothing. I want a leader. A true leader. Glenn is that.

Lighten up Francis.

The Saint will try to interview everyone they can but they ain’t sniffing the top tier HC prospects.

Matter of fact I’m sure Johnson and Brady will be cordial and not want to be disrespectful to a coaching interview so they’ll take the interview but I would not at all be surprised to learn that Johnson politely refused an interview with the Saints. He’s just not going to take a job like we have to offer.

As proof, you play Loomis or Gayle and let the board play Johnson and you sell the Saints to the top HC prospect in 2025.

I’ve been impressed with what Glenn has done this year. But I’d rather make a clean break from the CSP/DA era.

I don’t care about offensive or defensive background. I want a tough coach that is a leader and pays attention to details. A cocky bastard like CSP was before he got suspended. A coach that can hold Loomis in check. A leader that players respect and will play hard for.

Are you stupid? Johnson would take this job in a heart beat. Run the same offense as Detroit in an indoor stadium and on turf he would jump at this job. Build around Kamara and Taysom and add some pieces hell yea he would take it

Build around? 30 year olds?

I’m sorry I just have to ask, are you stupid or something?

Adam Schefter just talked about the Saints being interested in Aaron Glenn on NFL Live. He mentioned Vrabel in passing.

Glenn seems to be a foregone conclusion in most people’s minds.

Probly, because they will let the same clown pick the coach, and he still tries to relive his one great decision

What defensive minded coach has won anything in the last 5-7 seasons not named Belichick? I'll wait

If they hire Glenn, the Saints are just the Texans 2.0 with a much worse QB. They'll be in contention for the division every year but that's the ceiling.

No

They don’t. Taysom just had a season ending injury. He’s 34 fricking years old. Kamara is 30 being paid like a 25 year old top 3 running back. “Building” around these two dinosaurs is beyond retarded. They’re compliments at most at this point. They’re not getting any younger, faster, or healthier.

There aren’t many defensive coaches as head coaches now. But Sean McDermott, DeMeco Ryans and Mike Tomlin have been good.

You can’t just pick a hot OC and think he’s going to be a great coach. Brian Callahan, Brian Daboll, Doug Pederson, Shane Steichen and Zac Taylor aren’t lighting the world on fire at the moment.

I think you need a leader as much as you need a good offensive or defensive mind. Dennis Allen has a good defensive mind. He’s a terrible leader. Norv Turner was a great offensive mind. He was a bad head coach.

I don’t want Glenn because it’s a lazy hire and I want to bring in somebody outside the CSP circle. We need a fresh start.

I hope not. Why go back to anyone under Payton? Why go back to a defensive head coach when your best HC hire was a younger upcoming OC?

Since Mickey is the laziest GM in the NFL, he’ll just remove the interim tag off Rizzi even if we lose to the Raiders (losses to GB and TB are givens). Mickey will point to the Cleveland game this past season for justification and as the reason for the fans to be optimistic.

This of course will be done after we conduct our sham “interviews”.
