Is Drew Brees a racist? Does he think George Floyd’s death is tragic?

I’m gonna go with NO for #1 and YES for #2. Anybody wanting to conflate what he said about kneeling with his apparent racism and support of Police Brutality please go ahead and answer the questions.
ETA: And if he needs to be a better “ally”, should he take back the millions he’s dropped into charity for black families in LA? Since he didn’t really mean it anyways.

He needs to SHUT UP and LISTEN. This isn’t about him.

I just don’t get it. Look at facts. Yes a cop was very wrong for the way he handled Floyd. Floyd had dope in his veins and the corner’s report says he had a heart attack. Yes I’m sure the cop’s actions had influence on Floyd’s fragile health but the man should not be charged with murder 2 . That’s manslaughter all day long and not murder 2.
Worst part is , when the cops walks for murder 2, this nation will truly burn down.

So when he was asked a question by the media what was he supposed to do? Not answer?

Im convinced that MN AG wants this shite all over again. Anybody could tell you that Murder 2 won’t stick but 3 was a slam dunk. But that’s a convo for the PT.

He’s supposed to change his Facebook and Instagram profile pictures and give a canned statement. That is the RIGHT thing to do

I was guessing you were being sarcastic and I’m glad I was right

The sad part is he actually did do that.
And unlike the keyboard warriors posting black squares and patting themselves on the back he's also done this:
And this:
And this:
All in support of a city that is majority African-American.
What a fricking racist right?

Drew Brees is the founder of the Dream Foundation, a charity that partnered with Operation Kids after Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast.
The foundations worked to rebuild schools and athletic facilities in New Orleans as well as provide after-school mentor programs for children with learning needs.
Brees has also been a part of other campaigns, including raising awareness on gay teen suicides, and he helped with recovery for the BP Oil Spill.
And this:
quote:
One example of Brees’ efforts to help his community is his support of the Team Gleason House in New Orleans, named for Steve Gleason, a former Saints' teammate who was diagnosed with ALS. The house is equipped with the latest computer-operated technologies to allow individuals with ALS the highest independence possible. Brees’ foundation also helped fund improvements to Joe Brown Park, transforming it into a world-class regional park to enable children and families to be healthy and active, and he invites fellow Sigma Chi members to New Orleans to build homes through Habitat for Humanity
And this:
quote:
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees on Thursday announced he and his wife, Brittany, are committing $5 million to charitable efforts in Louisiana related to the coronavirus pandemic.
In an Instagram post, Brees said he is earmarking that money to “provide and deliver 10,000 meals per day throughout Louisiana for as long as it takes to children on meal programs, seniors, and families in need.” Several companies and organizations with which Brees has worked in the past have agreed to participate, he said.

some have said he holds back too much and tries to be a nice guy too much.
I don't feel one way or another about what he said but my only small critique here is that if there was ever gonna be a time to hold back on something it should have been now.
But he didn't and my opinion of him hasn't changed.
last time i legit got pissed off at him was that errant throw before the 1st half ended against the Vikes. A legit dumb fricking throw to a WR he had horrible rapport with all last season Ted Ginn.
