That's true, but there's been times he's looked as lost as Corey White. He's not been the same. Hoping he can turn it around for at least a couple of more seasons. One of my favorite players.

Greer looked pretty terrible last year. I know the whole defense was awful but I dont have much faith in Greer being 1/2 of a pretty damn good tandem

The CB position for a rookie is one of the most difficult positions to adjust in the NFL. I think signing Nnamdi is our best move. We just signed Lewis who is a young an upcoming CB. Get one thats proven and not only proven has a good track record with RR.We dont have 2-3 yrs for a CB to develop.

Thoroughly disagreeing with this dude, we had the 31st ranked pass defense last year. You can't just expect to pick up a CB in the first round and expect it to fix it. Bringing in a FA like him and Lewis is exactly what this team needs. Asomough and Greer would be a great 1,2 with Lewis and Robinson rotating at nickel.
Not to mention that Asomough and Greer are both in their 30s, bringing in Lewis was pretty key as well. In a few years when they move on, you will have groomed Lewis and Robinson to take over.
And just think about who we face just in our division. Atlanta obviously with Roddy, Julio, and Tony and Carolina with Smith and TB with VJax. We need to bolster the secondary in the worst way Bc these dudes murked us last year.

Rant Sports is another of these fan based sites. Same thing as Bleacher Report. You might run into sumpin that has merit but it is no more than opinions here. Kinda like some of my tldr's here - except dessiminated into the interwebs.

Does this douche expect us to rebuild???
im not sure i unsderstand why we're even debating this article. We have a 2-3 year window to compete for championships, if that when you consider all the cap problems we could face by then.
How many draft picks can contribute significantly in year 1-2? not many unless you have lots of early picks, or you get damn lucky.
We dont have many early picks, and i dont think our GM is willing to sit still in Brees waning productive years and hope we get lucky again in the draft (ala Colston, Evans, etc).
We only need a top 15/ top 12 defense, and i dont think anyone in here disagrees that we can build something like that through FA while adding depth in the draft.

The people saying Greer got torched last year and was terrible makes me realize many who post on here dont actually watch Saints football.

I dont think we went after one of the top CB in FA and pay him 2.2 mil this year for him to be a nikel CB. Greer looks like the man out.One of our CB will be cut and Greer has the most cap room to save.

Yeah, I think the hate is a little much. Everyone was terrible. Bringing in Nhamdi as the #1 and putting him on the #2 guy will pay dividends. I especially like the Lewis/Robinson matchup as the nickel Bc Robinson trying to cover #1 receivers has been pretty comical at times

There has been a lot of folks arguing that the secondary was 1st priority and those stating that a pass rusher was needed more as a lack of which made the corners look worse than they were.
Judging by what the Saints have done or tried to do it seems they believe its both. First they go hard after Kruger and his pass rush skills and almost nab the guy we all thought was out of reach. When that failed they grab Lewis and look to get Nnamdi to shore up the back end. So it seems both approaches were correct.

Long term plan?
Brees won't be here forever

I dont think cutting Greer saves as much cap as you think.

My old high school coach was a scout for the 49ers back in the 80's. I saw him one day after he retired and he had 4 Super Bowl rings. Who ever the saints are using to scout defense need to be fired. The front office take these evaluations to make their decisions. After 6 years of mostly missing on all its time to find better scouts.!

I'm not even sure what points this guy is trying to make.
We're suppose to rebuild through the draft with 5 draft picks? Signing free agents in the NFL doesn't handcuff you like in other leagues.

More than Robinsons ROOKIE contract! Plus Greer has been injured the last two seasons.

just to note, he started all 16 games in 2011. He missed 2 games last year. Not much of a case there. Someone like Tracy Porter you could say is a definite high injury risk.

Blues was it 2010 and 2012 he missed from sports hernia surgery!

Screw off 49ers fans! He's ours. Deal with it.
