I thought he put it together last year, but he has not had much luck this year. I think it's offensive line problems. I admit that sometimes Ingram looks like a really good, solid back and other times he looks like a back that goes down way too easy and can't hit a hole.

Offensive line, or at least the guards, haven't done a good job

Robinson does appear to be the better running back in both rushing and receiving, but you need at least 2 good backs

It's the line. As a team we're averaging 3.2/attempt. Ingram is at 3.3 and Robinson is at 4.0. There's just too much contact in the backfield for us to effectively run consistently right now.

Funny enough, Ingram is great in my PPR fantasy league. Gets a lot of catches and at least one TD a game so far

ETA:
I don't think it is Ingram. I think it's the offensive line. Robinson has been able to get some extra yards after getting clipped at the line, but he hasn't shown anything to show that he's heads above Ingram.

Clearly, the offensive line is terrible.

Ronde Barber is terrible at his job of being a sports commentator. That being said, even he could see that K. Robinson is the better running back and should be used more than Ingram. I'd also like to see us getting Spiller more involved in the run game.

Payton's insistence on using Ingram is starting to border on the Les Miles/Jordan Jefferson level.

I've been supporting Ingram but hes really struggled this year. I'd like to see Robinson pretty much absorb his touches at this point.

Keep in mind that Spiller is being eased back into game situations. I don't blame Payton for protecting the investement at least a little in the early going.

Ingram hasn't been running well, but he's an every down back unlike Robinson. I think that's why he sees more snaps.

I think K Rob looks a little better in his time because Defenses don't Key on him quite as much.

Early in Ingram's career he too many times missed holes and ran into piles in front of him. He looks like hes at least trying to hit seems and holes in the past two years but I agree that a lot can be placed on the O-Line not opening up the middle for him.

Right now K Rob is more consistent in my book but not by much. With Ingram more able to break the occasional big run.

Could our running struggles he also due to our WRs/TE not scaring anyone?

Offensive line hasn't helped either

Armstead is playing like a Pro Bowler, Unger is playing solid, Strief is good one game and then bad the next, then we have 2 guards that are below average(and that's putting it nicely). It's hard to run in either direction when 1 of those 2 guards will be involved in the play. Ingram is the same RB he was last year. Robinson has more of a burst it seems. The good news is that Ingram doesn't appear to be showing any signs of wearing down & Robinson has actually gotten better from last season. We actually have one of the best RB situations in the league.

The last half of 2013 & all of 2014 Ingram was a very good back. He has started off slow this year but he is definitely not the reason for our 0-3 start. Everybody is talking about Khiry like he is WAY better than Ingram, but in reality his yards came in one game against Tampa Bay. It was just one game, but he also got taken out of that game in the first quarter because he jumped offsides so that is his own fault for fewer touches in that game. We really do have a good RB trio, especially as we get Spiller more involved. I just hope we don't turn back into Ingram/PT/Sproles where the defense was able to key on certain plays depending on which back is in the game. One thing Payton has never been good at though is sticking with the hot hand during the game. That dates back to his first year here with Deuce and Reggie and every year in between. If he goes in to the game with a plan for 15 carries for RB1, 6 for RB2, and 4 for RB3 then that's exactly what they get in the game instead of giving the hot hand more touches. That falls directly in line with my earlier comment about tipping the defense with which RB is in the game.

Quite frankly, I am not sure what Ingram does well. Can't create, doesn't run over people, and goes down fairly easily.

He can run like hell through a gaping hole though.

I want Spiller in on every play. He can run, catch and block. But running or catching for a 15 yard gain gets you pulled on this team!

I liked the way Kelemete played as well. Very solid. I was surprised by his PFF score...I assumed he would have at least graded out at 0. We now know that we have a capable backup/spot starter. Hell, he might be the starter next year while Jahri Evans rides the bench & takes us to the cleaners for 8.2 mil.
