We still have a lot of talent and much of that is due to him, I agree also with Ireland. Not really his fault our star players stay hurt and barely play now. He does need to bite the bullet after this season and stop restructuring, maybe let FAs go if they want to get paid too much.

Restructuring Cam Jordan and Demario Davis just to get under the cap needs to be a no-no. Let them play out their contracts and be done, don't restructure or cut players when it hits our depth, and we still have to now fill their void while forking out dead money.

I like that he doesn't believe in rebuilds and wants to be competitive every year regardless of the situation, it's obvious we are at a point to have 1 rebuild year, need 2, but at least 1. We've had GMs before where we never brought anyone good in during FA, I don't want to go back to that, us older guys remember that, it sucks. Loomis has kept a talented roster; problem is they all getting hurt. His coaching search sucked, I agree, not sure how much his decision played into hiring DA. I was hoping for good with DA, sucks. I usually want a coach to have at least 2 years but not now. Ready to be done with him, that's going to be a Benson decision though.

The coaching search was a pretty huge red flag to be honest. Not to mention we had to convince Pete Carmichael to take the OC position.

Also, people are pretty much all in agreement that it was risky trading next years 1st without having a sure fire franchise QB.

Also, we lost Williams and CGJ and bought in Maye and Mathieu. Which looks like a bad move in retrospect. It’s a lot of little and big things you can point to that gives people pause about Loomis and the front office.

Well still we had 2 1st this year instead of 1 this year and 1 next. Get your point about QB though. We gonna have to try and bring Dalton or Winston back next year, yikes

Hindsight it looks bad, but most of this board wanted Williams gone. I was iffy on CGJ, but yea, now it sucks. Most people didn't realize Mathieu would be this bad. Maye finally played good but way too late. I don't disagree with you on any of that though.

I also agree with you the coach hire, wish they'd done more homework. Loomis definitely didn't have a good year this year But overall he's done really well. Every so often you just have to bite the bullet, stop restructuring half your team though.

I want to see what he does this offseason to decide. At bare minimum we need a coaching change. If he is willing to stick with Dennis another year than ill join the angry mob.

What Loomis does now and what ownership does now is the story at hand. Been on cruise control for awhile now so lets see what turns up.

The problem with that is, the one next year is probably going to be top 5. The Saints got nowhere near the value of a top 5 pick. Loomis should be gone for that and for the state of the salary cap which is going to make it much harder to rebuild.

I agree with you on that. I hope Penning and Olave workout and become great players to ease the pain from that All we can hope for is next year to hit on what draft picks we do have.

This is where I am. Loomis hasn’t done anything to earn my disdain, he should get the opportunity to correct the DA hire and current situation. If he fails to act, then that’s different.

Honestly I think he just underestimated Payton’s impact on the team. He felt that continuation of the staff would just lead to positive results and wouldn’t really miss much of a beat. I don’t think it was laziness and it makes sense in theory. Unfortunately it couldn’t be further from the truth and now we realize how vital a good head coach is. Now it is time for Loomis to fix his mistake and it is time to move on.

That is exactly right.

what got me though was that they thought they were so close, and it wouldn't be as a big of a deal to replace Payton as most would have thought right?

I mean they attacked things almost identically like they did when Payton was here especially the god damn draft.

And Ireland is goner once Payton lands a job. I will be shocked if he stayed.

Sorry, that statement is simply wrong. With Payton as coach we have consistently be mortgaging the future: restructurers, trading draft picks etc.. for the chance to win Brees one more. Now he is stuck with trying to rebuild a franchise with nothing but a highly paid reciever whom stays on the injured list. We have no quarterback, a highly paid running back who's best attribute is catching passes out of the backfield, a kicker who was great but now you have to pray if he is kicking an extra point or a 60 yarder, a number one draft picks cornerback that is constantly in the injured list. Besides olave what does he have to rebuild a team with?

I agree. Most fans dislike their team's GM at some point, but Mickey has done a brilliant job at times and has always been aggressive. Would much rather have Mickey than whatever uber conservative goofy shite Green Bay has done the last 15 years.

I do think its a legit worry that he may feel inclined to do Sean a solid and not ask for the moon in regards to trade capital.

If that is how he ends up playing it, he can pack his shite and leave.

I know we are just being hypothetical here, but you shouldn't conduct business that way to do a friend a favor.
