quote:. Who can argue with that statement, but sweet baby Jesus what even casual fan would ever believe that Payton would intentionally handicap himself by purposefully ignoring a player from LSU or anywhere else for that matter. This has really gotten to the point of being ridiculous. If it's anything it's a cross between coincidence and in some cases poor talent evaluation. I just don't believe Payton has a special hard on reserved for LSU and LSU only.
The Saints under Peyton(sic) have done a terrible job of drafting and developing defensive talent

I think a lot of it depends on how a player fits in their system. Can't got a square peg in a round hole. If player X is a better fit than an LSU guy then you take player X

Greatful for the Tigers because the Saints suck.

Most Bama fans are geographical orphans who have no professional team to root for and only follow the Saints because of Ingram.
Hey frickstick, check the year I joined this site. It was while Mark Ingram was a true Freshman at Alabama.
The Saints are the team for the entire Gulf region.
I would say stick to gifs, but your shite got old years ago.

He actually has a valid point there

No he doesn't.
I know a shite load of Alabama fans that were Saints fans well before Mark Ingram showed up.
You morons don't understand that the Saints broadcast was the ONLY NFL broadcast for most of the Gulf region before the 1990s.

Born and raised in New Orleans, so Saints fan forever. LSU graduate, so a die-hard Tigers fan.
Would it be cool if the Saints drafted LSU players? Sure, but I want them to take the best player for their club and not reach to cater to the local fan base.
I was hoping Dupre would go undrafted so the Saints could sign him, but I think Dural has a better chance of making the Saints roster than Dupre would have.

there have been plenty of silly posts from people that bitch about not picking LSU players without providing a basis as to why that player would be great on the N.O. squad. This is what has laid a foundation for the stereotype and how stupid some of the LSU fans have been. That being said, as others have mentioned, you could make an argument for there being something to the Saints avoiding LSU players. LSU is close enough to where you don't have to do alot of research on the player. The Saints seem to miss on their defensive picks of position need. Then the LSU player for that position is drafted high by another team and is starting very shortly. It's only a recent trend, but there is enough there to make people wonder if the Saints are avoiding them.

Seems to work for the Falcons right? Debo helped them to the SB. That D should be even better with Duke there. I don't think that it's a coincidence that teams that draft LSU players have better defenses than the Saints. Atlanta,NY Jets, Arizona and even Cincinnati. ..etc.

No, you really can't make a good argument that the Saints deliberately avoid LSU players. If you think there is a legitimate argument that they do then you have issues with logic, basic reasoning skills, and understanding base level statistics.
I have gone over it before, so I am reluctant to go over it again because I know that people convinced otherwise will never accept the sheer straight forward logic that the Saints avoiding LSU is a nonsense argument. It's a you won't reason some one out of a position that they didn't reason themselves into or a don't argue with stupid people situation.
To keep it as simple as possible, there are almost 1700 active roster players in the NFL. There are about 50 former LSU players in the NFL. Just looking at these two numbers a person should be able to see that it isn't an incredibly low probability event for no players from LSU to be on a particular roster.
EDIT: Also consider that they technically have 2 former LSU players currently on the roster. That means that they actually have well above their average allotment.
