Like if he had gone 8-28 as a head coach, it might have served as a red flag. But hey who could have seen this coming?

The “coaching search” was an absolute joke.

In no other profession is measurable failure constantly rewarded with additional chances to fail.

In fairness, it was with a dysfunctional franchise.

But Glenn would have been better.

Allen's defense can't be blamed. Really, I could blame Carmicheal. He doesn't cause or call fumbles.

Mickey Loomis didn't want to bring in another head coach who would control personnel. This was Loomis protecting his own job.

I feel like a dumbass for sure. I guess in fairness to all of us who wanted to keep rolling, we have grown to trust Loomis over the past 18 years. If he's telling me this is how the team should go, I'm inclined to trust him. Then I remember that he really wanted to hire Mike McCarthy over Sean Payton and you realize how much of this stuff is just dumb luck.

Yah that's a great take, although I think he was protecting his power more than his job. If we'd have gotten someone like Harbaugh (doubt he'd have left Michigan to coach Jameis in NOLA but it's a hypothetical) there's no doubt Loomis would have forfeited a ton of personnel influence.
