I wish I could just not watch.

This past game I was a little bit fooled by the first drive, but I genuinely didn't enjoy watching the game at all.
And I don't see it getting any better.
The whole point is to enjoy it, right?
It's more fun talking about how shitty the game was than actually watching it.
Being a fan is so dumb. I know I'm watching Sunday though:/

It is dumb. It's entertainment. BUT, for some people it's another thing to look forward to after a long week of work. College football Saturdays and NFL Sundays.
You want your team to do well so you can look forward to it each weekend. Been a fan since 1987 so been through some rough years, and when we started winning, it was exciting. Hell, after all of those heartbreaks and bad calls, I lost interest in it. Putting all of your emotions into a GAME is not worth it.
It was exhausting being so amped up and then being let down so often or in the worst ways possible.

I watch all the games. Drink my beer or bourbon. Cheer for the Saints. Then move on, win or lose. Too many other important things in my life to worry about the outcome of a game played by millionaires. Having said that, WHO DAT!

It really is difficult. Seeing your team lose while being competitive sucks; but bad football is so hard to watch and get excited about.
One way you could minimize “the pain” (if your tv/stream service allows) is to start the game an hour after start. Watch the game as you would normally do, but FF commercials & half-time. This season I always catch up during the 3rd qtr and the games are only around 2 hours long for me.
Edit: also helps if you don’t have an a-hole for a brother that will intentionally throw out spoilers and “fake news” during the game

Once you realize the team sucks your expectations will lower, then you can hate-watch the games.

Same here. I was at the nfc championship game the rams were gifted and after that it’s never been the same.
I still keep up with the saints like I always have but I’m not reserving a whole afternoon to to watch the Saints game. I record it and fast forward through it now when I have time. But I’m usually listening to redzone on my phone while mowing, fixing house things, etc.
