I second that notion.

I completely agree. Look at how ineffective Aldon Smith was once Justin Smith got hurt and had to sit a couple games out. You win in the trenches, simple as that.

Who?

I think that one guy who made the thread who was an idiot.

I wasn't referring to anyone particular. I've just always thought of Hicks and Jordan being the starting DE.

Will be interesting to to see where and how Hicks plays. Like Star, I think he could rotate inside and out ala Ngata.

Will be fun to watch (I hope!)

As the Saints always fill their roster holes via free agency its interesting to note that NT was one they did not address and DE was(Kenyon Coleman).
They must have felt that they already have 2-3 guys to rotate in at NT but not so much at DE.
Jordan and Coleman are the only two I could predict what position they will play on the line.

Cant wait for reports from practices as to who is playing where on the line and who the two starters are at OLB are at first.

I did hear somewhere (forget who/where) that Rob Ryan's NT's are more of a driving force than just big space eaters. This is why I am lead to believe that most of our lineman can be interchangeable between DE and NT. Bunkley, Hicks, Walker are most likely to end up with the NT tag, however I can see Hicks being solid anywhere on the line! I would love to see Hicks starting at DE assuming we don't draft another one

Exactly. We need disruptive people up front, destroying the pocket.

Yes, linebackers are important too, but getting pressure with your front 3 is very nice.

I agree. The guys we have now (I'm not including Hicks because he can only get better) are shell shocked with getting their asses blown up on running plays. They don't have speed to get to the QB and they can't handle the run....other than that, they're solid.

The Saints have to rely on the LBs more than the DL. Why? Speed. Not that our LBs are fast, it's that they're quicker to fill a gap than any DL we have. Kinda like Ware fills in for the Cowboys.

Listen, the freakin defense has so many holes, anybody who can make plays will be a welcomed change.

I wouldn't be surprised if we drafted Richardson at all. I mean he is a player who really hasn't really been discussed that much a possibility for the Saints. It just seems like those type of guys are the ones we end up going with come draft day....

I don't remember seeing a lot of talk about Cameron Jordan because most figured he would be gone. But a few teams reached for a QB that year so he fell down to us. I think a lot of people had Ingram pegged as a guy we might get though.

I don't think many saw us picking Patrick Robinson a few years ago either.

oh, and I be thrilled if the Saints got Star.

but I don't see that happening. If he is still there for the Panthers at #14, I think they get him.

I think Carolina is a likely landing spot as well. Luckily, they have so many holes, they could go for someone like Patterson to give Cam another weapon.

true.

one of the real keys for someone like Star to drop down to us would be for the two guards (Warmack,Cooper) to both get picked before we go.

its just that guards don't get picked that high very often. We keep hearing how that will all change this year but I'll believe that when I see it.

hopefully it does though

also need a few QB's to get picked ahead of us. There is always at least one team who reaches on a QB too.

I think the Bucs might go after a corner if they don't get the TE Eifert. Still no word on the Revis thing and they need help at corner, bad.
