His lackluster commentating in the SB confirmed his disdain. He regularly, in the game cheerleaded and exalted Manning, but even when Brees was slicing and dicing the Colts, Simms offered nothing close to deserving praise.
(Oh wait, there was that "accuracy comment" but stained, AS USUAL, by adding how "weak" Brees arm is. Gee, I thought Henderson and Meachum caught a few long ones this year.)

During the season, Simms always picked against us in the big games. In the SB, he was indifferent to outstanding Saints play..as if he was pained by their successes. His call of the SB is about the only thing about the game I didn't like. I wish the Monday Night crew at ESPN had been calling it.

Can someone photoshop Phil Simms on a Saints dart board for me.

I could tolerate the CBS crew over that FOX NFC Championship crew. Buck and Aikman did not impress me and can you imagine if it would have been the Cowboys in the NFC title game.

Simms was the ultimate overachieving QB, so nothing he says about Brees I take serious, he's just an arse kisser of elite QB's like Manning, Brady, and Favre just like Boomer, Marino, and Aikman all tend to do, but now with Brees' breakthrough they will have to bow to "da man" now.

I had never noticed what a fricktard Simms was before the SB.

He had some real genius commentary about how it would be a mistake for the Saints to blitz, right before the Saints blitzed on Porter's pick six.

I took him as being an AFC guy because of the network he worked for.

Vin Scully, Dick Enberg, Curt Gowdy, and Lindsay Nelson.

The only four announcers on Earth that are not hated by anyone.

Everybody else.........against our team.

exactly, I remember when the Rockets played Orlando in the NBA finals, everyone bitched about how NBC hates the Rockets, Bill Walton hates Hakeem, slobbers on Shaq etc. One of the Houston reporters covering the series said in Orlando they were saying how Walton hated Shaq and loved Hakeem etc.

H-town..I also dislike the emasculated..couldn't punch his way out of a wet paper bag..could have only been a mealy mouth ambassador on the original Star Trek..leader of a crew of socialist milksops..Captain Picard.

Come to think of it, Simms reminds me very much of Picard

By the way the other guy calling the SB was excellent..Simms was an unenthusiastic drip.

I've watched the game 3 times and not once did I ever think the commentary was unbiased.

I bet somewhere on a message board, there are Colts fans bitching about how the commentary was all for the Saints. I guarantee it.

That's because it wasn't. People that complain about national announcer being biased are basically complaining he's not biased FOR their team.

Right before Porter's INT, Simms says he wouldn't blitz if he was the Saints cause the Jets blitzed all game and he tore them apart. Watching the replay he says, well I said don't blitz and brought everybody.

This is my last comment because Simms is not worth any further thought..

About the now infamous "the Saints need to lay back and don't blitz" expert color analysis from Phil Simms

Simms was blurting. He couldn't keep a personal wish to himself..a hope that the Saints would play the wrong defense. He tried to suck his Freudian slip back in only because he realized how incredibly stupid he had looked to the entire sporting world. (Even his embarrassed comment was shallow..the Saint do a lot of things equally well on defense..the beauty of the SB blitzes was the holding back of them until the fourth quarter)

Simm's calls of the super Saints plays is reminiscent of the Colts guy's call of the interception. You can barely hear The Colt's radio guy because he's so incredibly disappointed. Simms is not that honest. His call just lacks a sport lover's spice when he's describing the Saints drives. The call is dry, but spikes up when Manning is driving.(Listen to Jim Henderson calling that drive where Brees hit nine different receivers, and compare it to Simms color commentary of the same drive. I don't expect the same levels of praise, but with Simms there is no excitement or appreciation at all.)

Simms comment on the onside kick.." no, it's not the first one, I covered that game" was freaked out babbling in the face of coaching genius. His comment that the PAT couldn't be seen by the human eye was an unsolicited and unneeded defense of the referees. Again it's a quick babble to recover from thinly veiled disappointment.

At least Chris Collingsworth expressed his strong conflict about finally picking the Colts. Simms looked stupid to the end..that's a bad thing for a highly paid TV celebrity sports analyst. You bet he was rooting for the Colts. I'm just saying that if you listen, you'll hear it in his call of the game.

That's why I dislike Simms..he never gave the Saints the respect they deserved. Never..ever.

This is ridiculous, LOL.

So by saying the Saints shouldn't blitz, you equate that to Simms hoping they wouldn't blitz?

This is funny to me.

Some people just really can't view any part of a game UNBIASEDLY. And in this situation, that person is NOT Simms.

You can't just join the "I hate Phil Simms " club because you feel like it. There is a long waiting list for this club. There may, however, be some openings in the " Phil Simms is an idiot " club if you are interested. These clubs have been divided by states because of the large amount of members. Good luck. Join now before it is too late. There are membership limits.

Thanks man, I needed a good laugh. Though it is kind of sad, that even in the greatest moments, some Saints fans still find something to whine and cry about.
