With the best two defensive players hurt and so/so for the start of the season I'd say it's going to be a rough first 6 weeks.

I understand. My thought was just... you never know, any given Sunday.

I am concerned about our defense. After the first two games, I was fired up about the defense. However, the high ankle sprain to Lofton raises red flags for me. Also, I know Blaine Gabbert is a promising young talent and it was only a preseason game, but it was disheartening to watch him carve up our first team D. R Jennings ran wild. I think J Charles and P Hillis will present more of a challenge than the Jags RBs.

I think our offense keeps us ahead in most games, but a few unlucky turnovers or special teams plays ( similar to that Cleveland game) can change things quickly.

It was. Just realize that these games are not game planned. Offense or Defense. Gabbert looked good. The DLine got pressure, he hit his hot reads, made good accurate throws and made good decisions. Them letting Jennings run all over is inexcusable. That shouldn't have happened.

It definitely does. And them trading for Ruud raised another.

I agree with this. I just don't see many teams being able to keep pace with the Offense. The defensive scheme, alone, will make them a bit better and I don't think teams will score as much this season. That will win a couple of games in itself.

... don't sleep on KC either. They're a pretty good ball club.

I believe there's going to be a lot of parity in the NFL this year. More than even the last few years. I think their will only be 1-2(tops) 13+ win teams this year.

I think 3-3 is the worst possible scenario for us. Barring injury

Toughest games

@Green Bay
@Carolina
@Tamp
San Diego
Kansas City
Washington

I think it's fair to say 4-2 in that stretch.

7 @ Tampa Bay W
That's 7 weeks, Chad. But I'm saying 5-1. It will be really difficult to beat Green Bay in Green Bay with a hurt defense. San Diego might give us a scare.

I don't think out schedule will be as tough as we originally thought. I think Green Bay, @Atlanta, and @Carolina are our Toughest games this year. I'm not too scared of Philly considering Mike Vick is a walking injury. I don't think Denver will be very consistent this year, Manning doesn't exactly have a star supporting cast. Cowboys look like they ate primed for a horrible year. I dony think Tampa will be as improved as everyone says. San Diego won't be a cake walk, but prime time with a chance to break Unitas record? No way Brees/Sproles lose that game

Being the tough schedule,

I think the first 3 are the sweetest spot on the schedule. The NFL is parity driven but still those teams only won 18 games last year.

The biggest threat to losing those three will be if the replacement refs are on the field.

If the scabs cost us a regular season game by making an absurd call like they did against the Jags it's going to suck big time.

Before preseason started I was hopeful that maybe the replacement refs would "let em play" a little more...now I just want the old guys back

vast inconsistency would be a bigger problem than whether the calls were loose or tighter. Versus AZ I was saying, "Dayum, I'd spread the word you can hold all you want". Versus Jax is was "Are they just calling stuff cuz they were told they were being too loose?"

The greedmeisters of the NFL may wanna put the squeeze on the refs negotiating wise. It's not about "player safety" and "fan experience". It's about covering your arse and squeezing the last dime of profit ya can outta of your mega sports machine.

I agree to a point. Obviously I want the game called evenly for both sides, but I would rather it be called loosely than too tight. Last season I got this feeling:

quote:

"Are they just calling stuff cuz they were told they were being too loose?"

...quite a bit. Missed holding calls, although frustrating, for some reason don't wizz me off like an interception getting called back because someone accidentally let their pinky finger touch the QB's helmet, or a good defensive break up getting flagged as PI. I guess it's two sides of the same coin...but I have a favorite side

i don't understand why we have to go to green bay in back to back seasons?! shouldn't it be their turn to come to NOLA?

ETA: i'm going to be in the minority here and unfortunately jinx the saints by saying that i truly believe they are going to be 6-0 after the first 6 weeks

Well...I don't know about that, but I would like to hear the reason we have to play in Denver twice in a row. Thought the non conference games were supposed to alternate venues each time?
