1972 vs Green Bay Packers Tulane Stadium

It was a cold as hell that day. But still loved every minute

I always imagined that we would eventually get here, but it was always a thought that we would get in by barely squeaking by. Getting in by the dominant teams loosing out and us pulling off a couple of miracle upsets to get in the game. I never dreamed that we would come in by dominating the way that we have. Winning home field throughout and then putting away the favorites the way that we have has just made it all the more amazing!

My family had season tix for well over 39 years and I too had always hoped it would happen, but wasn't sure it would during my lifetime... although I'm only 37, just shy of 38.... and surely didn't thing they would be playing as they have been.

I have been a fan since the first play of the saints was kick off ran back for touch down. remember them drafting kilmer. my favorite player back then was dannyy abramowicz. A louisiana boys dream to catch a touch down pass for the saints. Check this link out.

I ran into Danny Abramowicz at the NO airport back in the late 90's. Went up and asked for his autograph, he was flattered that someone remembered him from his Saints days.

ok, to make a short story long............

i grew up in san jose, ca.
as a raider fan, one sunday my dad was watching
his beloved cowpukes, and lo and behold they were playing the saints.
i was in the kitchen and i heard him laughing his arse off, he called me into the room to show me that there were 70,000 people in the superdome wearing bags on their heads.
i thought what's so special about this team that that many people would go see them?
fast forward to 1981
i moved to louisiana. went to my first game in 1983, they played the rams.........
anyone want to guess which game?
ever since that day, i was hooked
did i ever think i would see this weekend?

never

Negative...Kilmer had been in the league for some time, he was a 49'er before coming to the Saints.

Saints drafted him as part of an expansion draft. Each team put up players available to the saints and he was picked

One of their better initial moves for an expansion team IMHO

certainly better their initial pick in the first real draft....Les Kelley from Alabama, never played a down.

I had on today my Archie Manning Jersey that I wor the day my daughter was born in 1986 and my sin in 1991. I have a picture of me in it in 1982. Still fits, in good shape and will be wearing it Sunday. I am not sure what I will do when the Saints win but I will need a private moment or two.

I remember when the local team was the AFL Oilers. The Saints seemed like the "new team" until I was in High School.

Hard for my brain to accept that they're in the Super Bowl.

I just feel bittersweet when I think of some of my family members and friends who are no longer with us to witness this.

This already feels so surreal to myself and everyone close to me.

I can't imagine what I'll do Sunday when they play the National anthem with the Saints endzone in the background.

I have a feeling that my son will be offering both me and my wife Kleenex before kickoff though.

Every old time Saints fan should see the movie "Number One". The makers of the movie wanted Charlton Heston to do the football scenes, but he was so bad at throwing the football that they used footage of Billy Kilmer instead.

As a movie, it pretty much sucked. But, if you are an old-time Saints fan, you will ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. It shows old Saints scenes. It also shows scenes from the real old locker rooms at Tulane stadium and the Saints old training facility right off David Drive. And, it has some great scenes from late-60's New Orleans.

I wish it were out on DVD. It would be the PERFECT pre-Super Bowl viewing movie.
