How concerned should we be about this? Think we see a noticeable drop off in the defense against the Rams?

I don’t want to discredit Sheldon because he had a great year, but I feel like Onyemata can step in and maybe not take his place but at least play very well.

Run defense goes from an A+ to an A

Pass rush goes from a B+ to a B-/C+

pretty significant loss in the pass rush area. Neither Davison nor Stallworth are great there. Run defense won't be too much worse if at all.

Not even sure if it's that big of a factor. Agreed it hurts the pass rush more than the run stuff.

Onyemata is the higher graded player per PFF. The depth and rotation will be affected negatively tho.

As I said in another post:

He is not playing and his loss will be very big. He’s second behind Jordan in sacks, QB hits and TFL. He also dropped back in coverage and ran sideline to sidelines a lot this year.

Davison, Onyemata and Stallworth will have to step up big time. We will also likely have to sign someone. We have Tomasi Laulile, a rookie out of BYU, and Henry Mondeaux, a rookie from Oregon, on the practice squad.

I could see Davenport playing more DE this game as he’s been really good against the run. I think he may also provide more athleticism that you miss with Rankins off the field.

Onyemata is already always on the field with Rankins

Stallworth is the guy that needs to step in

I have faith in Stallworth. I thought he played great against the Eagles. He was mauling people.

Not much help at all in rushing the QB, but hopefully he can stop the run like he did against the Eagles.

Hendrickson played DT last year in situations. He’ll be active Sunday.

Based on body type alone, I feel like they’ll call up Mondeaux from the practice squad. Who knows.
