Should have been intentional grounding. If ruled a pass then, No receiver near the ball or back to line of scrimmage.

wrist forward but pass backwards = fumble

I don't give a frick what his intent was. The ball was released at one point. The ball landed behind that point = fumble

The wrist didn't even go forward until he got hit. That's why it went forward barely and then the ball still went backwards. The wrist moved forward after the hit

The arm forward motion was a result of the hit not attempting to throw.
